Meghan Markle has always been open about her difficult times during her stay with the Royal family. She and Prince Harry left royal life to create a new life for themselves. In their interview with Oprah Winfrey and their Netflix docuseries, the various revelations about the hard times as royals were highly controversial.
Markle had received a rather unflattering reputation in the royal family as she has been termed Duchess Difficult due to her alleged high demands and elitist behavior. Markle has already addressed the nickname and even took an indirect dig at the royal family.
Meghan Markle Takes a Dig At The Royal Family Over Her Infamous Nickname
It’s been a few years since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced their exit from the royal life. Since their exit, they have been open about several hardships and confinements they had to deal with inside the royal family. Markle has been the target of ridicule from many people, being labeled Duchess Difficult.
Markle talked to Mellody Hobson and Victoria Jackson on her Archetypes podcast about her restrictive life in the royal family and being squeezed into a certain type of stereotypical role during her stay there. In addition to this indirect and clever dig at the royals, she claims that they did everything they could to ‘bury her’. She said,
“I was just chatting with my girlfriends recently and I was asking them for the show, what sort of archetypes, you think we should discuss and almost immediately unequivocally they all jump to difficult. “That’s the word you have to talk about, ‘difficult’.”
Some may try to squeeze you into tropes and boxes and the roles and stereotypes attributed to you, that don’t quite fit the full person that you are. What didn’t you do to bury me? But you forgot that I was a seed to that point.”
Markle has always had her fans and detractors over the years, and these statements will undoubtedly divide audiences. However, Markle continues to convey her feelings and is open to her conflicting experiences during her time with the royals.
Abigail Spencer Credits Meghan Markle for The Recent Resurgence of Suits
Meghan Markle starred as Rachel Zane in Suits which has had a huge resurgence in the past year. The show already ended in 2019 but it has slowly climbed the Netflix charts and remains one of the most watched titles on Netflix.
Abigail Spencer who played Dana Scott in the series credits Markle’s popularity among audiences as the reason behind the show’s resurgence. In an interview with Sirius XM, Spencer called Markle a lovely person and claimed that Markle’s docuseries on Netflix further fueled audiences’ interest in the series. She said, (via People)
“I think there’s several different things. And also Meghan’s loveliness, you know, that everyone is aware of her and her being on the show. Also during the strike, there wasn’t anything else. You know, Netflix repositioned it, so I think there is something to positioning on Netflix and when other things aren’t being made, it commands your attention, but it has to be great for people to watch it.”
Currently, there are rumors that Markle will lead a Suits spin-off series. While this is exciting news for fans, it is not officially confirmed and fans would have to wait for a confirmation about the same.
