With Valhalla launching on December 12, 2023, most fans have finished playing the DLC. And with no new project on the horizon from the God of War franchise, fans have taken to community forums like Reddit to discuss what could be in store for the God of War now.

In God of War (2018), Kratos was introduced into the Norse mythology. And God of War: Ragnarok is a direct sequel. These two games and the Valhalla DLC mark a successful soft reboot on the part of Santa Monica Studio as they successfully carried the franchise from the ‘de-plenished’ world of Greek mythology to the Nordic land of MidgardWhat Do the Fans Believe That Kratos Is Upto?

Reddit has a vibrant community of users dedicated to the world of God of War. With the game being virtually over, a user posted a rather interesting question.

What do you think Kratos is doing now that he’s the new Norse God of War? Is he still going out exploring with Mimir or is he always busy with God stuff?

Several users engaged in debates in the comment section regarding what they believed Kratos was up to. One user was of the opinion that Kratos had indeed become God of Hope.

But another user countered by saying that God of Hope was only the name of the trophy and Kratos resumed his role as God of War after the event of the DLC, which is the point of the DLC. The user added that even Tyr wanted to leave his office in charge of Kratos.

But another user with an interesting user name replied to the thread stating that Kratos is definitely the God of Hope now. They further stated that the developers named the trophy God of Hope because Kratos became the God of Hope after he claimed it. So, in addition to his God of War title from the Greek pantheon he was also the God of Hope of the Aesir gods of the Norse mythology.

While this debate will rage on until there is something definitive from the developers’ end, there are ample users on Reddit who have taken to their imagination and assumptions to come up with what Kratos might be actually doing after his stint in the Valhalla DLC.

What Does a God of War Do on Vacation?

Probably chill and hang out with old friends, we can’t be sure. But obviously, something as simplistic wouldn’t be an answer for the die-hard fans of the God of War franchise. So, they have taken the liberty of coming up with their own ideas and iterations of what Kratos might be doing in the days coming after the events of the Valhalla DLC.

This lengthy comment from a user can give readers a brief idea about exactly how the fans of the franchise are thinking about their favorite god. In response to such a well-thought-out comment, another user, very aptly, replied with a tiny tale of their own.

Whatever Kratos is doing, one thing is certain. The fans are behind the franchise. With God of War III, and God of War: Ascension, there was a slight undercurrent of the franchise treading its own footfalls over and over again. But those were comprehensively swept aside by the enthralling experience both the games provided.

But that slight undercurrent was enough. Going against the trend of milking the money-making cash cow and making the same game over and over again, the developers took their own sweet time to come up with another milestone entry in the franchise in the form of God of War (2018).

In a rare combination of bravery and success, the franchise did a proper ‘soft reboot’ of the franchise to keep the fans hooked. And if the various community forums and online interactions between the gamers are any indication, the fans have responded largely positively.

The God of War franchise showed how to deliver to their fans in a world where EA Sports got away with releasing the same game with different bling for multiple years in the form of FIFA. Even after the end of their contract with FIFA, the EAFC 24 game is just another story of ‘new game, same old issues’.

What do you think Kratos is up to? Which mythology do you think the developers are going to make him target next? Would there be a game with Arteus as the protagonist? We look forward to hearing your opinions in the comments.

I travel. I game. I write. In no strict order.

The single biggest lie told all around is, "It isn't that simple." It is simple, everything is. And that is what I emulate in my writing. No unnecessary jargons and no flamboyant flourish. Just what's needed to get your imagination going. After all mind has no limit, unlike the written word.
