Like every role-playing game, Dragon’s Dogma 2 also features three common classes, a strength-based class that relies on close combat, an archer who is an ace with bows for long-range attacks, and the third, a sorcerer, who has magical powers to conquer over the foes.
The Sorcerers in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are particularly unique since they are known to be heavy damage dealers. That being said, mastering this class and gradually maximizing their potential does require considerable practice.
In Dragon’s Dogma 2, one of the biggest strengths of Sorcerers is their wide catalog of weapons. Among them is the Augural Flare which many players are swearing by for the Sorcerer build.
What is Augural Flare in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Augural Flare in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a Weapons Skill of the Sorcerers. It is an advanced version of Prescient Flare having an extended duration and more explosions. Augural Flare is a skill that the Sorcerer uses, which is also available to Pawns with the related vocation. Similarly, newer skills can be bought using Discipline Points.
The spell places a magical orb on a target. This target eventually explodes after some time if attacked. Every strike on the orb adds more explosions and increases their power. Regardless, if the orb stays unattacked for a long period of time, it eventually fades away.
The Augural Flare has an acquired cost of 2500 Discipline and a vocation rank of 8. Some skills in Dragon’s Dogma 2 feature advanced forms having stronger effects. These can range from dealing more damage, having a longer duration, or even being able to hit more enemies. Likewise, the Augural Flare advances from the Prescient Flare.
What players think of the Augural Flare?
Several Dragon’s Dogma 2 players are of the opinion that when playing a Sorcerer class, playing without Augural Flare is a massive missed opportunity. This implies that the Augural Flare is synonymous with the Sorcerer’s vocation.
Players’ glowing reviews for the Augural Flare have been seen through numerous discussions happening on social media. A user named ‘HaryMammalSmile’ went on to say, “I never go without it, super baked damage for how little time it takes to cast.”
I gave it to my sorc pawn and I play either Spearhand or thief, and just RIP AND TEAR
Apparently if you make good use of spellhold you can set 2 flares at once, and when the first one pops, it's explosions will add to the explosions of the second one, which is just incredible

Another user named ‘VezratheWizard’ shares,
“Have it on my pawn, when i started i was playing thief, the second i saw a monsterpart glowing i stuck on it like a tick and started swinging. it was so easy to kill things that way :D”
Talking about the weapon skills damage, ‘AzureBookwyrm’ says, “I was honestly amazed at how much damage it deals. I took out my first drake thanks to it.” User ‘cheenouwashere’ also had a similar experience to share, saying, “I have it on my pawn and it’s amazing how it just NUKES ogres.”
‘APurpleWusky’ adds, “This spell is so busted. Insane amounts of damage even just spamming it afterwards with basic attacks.”
All skills of Sorcerer are spells, with each of them either causing elemental damage or debilitations. As the players progress through the vocation ranks, they unlock upgraded versions of these skills. As far as the reviews are concerned, advancing ranks to obtain the Augural Flare definitely sounds like a worthy deal.
