The comic book helped him desire freedom for himself and others, and this desire was embodied in a Devil Fruit that gave him the power of stretching and hence came to be known as Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika.
The fact that Roger called the treasure a “tale full of laughs” is another clue that supports the theory of the One Piece treasure being a comic book, as comic books are generally fictional stories that make people laugh.
