Sydney Sweeney has had an interesting trajectory in the industry with the actress being one of the most promising among the current bunch of actors in their 20s. Despite her talent and range as an actress that she has proved in projects like Euphoria, Anyone But You, and Immaculate, the actress has been mostly seen as the sexy blonde who frequently goes n*de in most of her projects.

Sweeney has been open about how she is aware of those criticisms, and how her family is okay and comfortable with her going n*de on screen. However, one of the stars from Bridgerton, Nicola Coughlan had a contrasting response from her parents about the n*dity in her show.

On-screen n*dity is a tricky thing for both actors and actresses, and its usage and depiction depend on what the scene is and whether it is integral to the scene. The comfort factor and the ease with which actors are willing to go for such scenes differ. Actresses like Sydney Sweeney are comfortable with it, with her family members showing their support (via Today).

But not every parent will be comfortable for their daughter to bare it all or watch n*dity on-screen. This happened with Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan‘s mother when she sat down to watch her daughter’s Netflix show. Coughlan stated that her family did not feel the same way about on-screen n*dity as Sweeney’s family.

During an appearance on Sirius XM’s The Morning Mash Up, Coughlan who plays Penelope Featherington revealed that her mother did not know that Bridgerton would contain saucy scenes. She was gobsmacked when she saw Jonathan Bailey’s bottoms in the beginning minutes of Bridgerton, but eventually got used to it and found the show funny. Coughlan recalled (via Uproxx),

I remember reading that Sydney Sweeney was like, in any of the TV shows or movies, she’s done she’s like, ‘Whatever. My parents love it.’ My parents would not love it. When she first saw Bridgerton, she didn’t know it was gonna be so saucy.

And then you get a bottom, Jonathan Bailey’s lovely bottom, about two minutes into the first episode ever. And she was like, ‘What is this?’ But then, now she thinks it’s fantastic and really funny, and she keeps talking about bottoms.

Being raised in an Irish Catholic family, on-screen n*dity is not something her parents would have entertained. Her contract for the show specifies that a PG-rated version of the show be made available for her parents’ viewing, as she told SiriusXM Hits 1. Fans can watch Coughlan in the latest season of Bridgerton on Netflix.

Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney became everyone’s favorite on-screen couple with their electrifying chemistry in the 2023 rom-com Anyone But You. Fans want them to reunite for another film and both actors are aware of the audience’s thirst to witness them again on-screen. Powell also expressed that he and Sweeney can’t wait to work together on another project.

He stated that they may be the new generation’s Julia-Roberts-George Clooney (worked 6 times) and Matthew McConaughey-Kate Hudson (worked 2 times), actor pairings who audiences love to see together. The actor is proud that he and Sweeney took a gamble with Anyone But You and it paid off. Powell told Today,

What I’m really proud of on ‘Anyone But You’ is Sydney and I took a gamble that people would pay their $15, leave the house, get the sitter, whatever it means, to show up to the theater for a movie that’s just about love.

Sydney and I want to get back in the trenches together. It’s like Julia [Roberts] and George [Clooney]. You know, Matthew [McConaughey] and Kate [Hudson]. You know these people that work together over and over and over again.

Sweeney was most recently seen in the horror film Immaculate where she impressed audiences with her intense performance, a far cry from her role in Anyone But You. The actress will next be seen in the thriller Echo Valley alongside Julianne Moore. She will also star in Ron Howard’s survival thriller Eden opposite Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, and Jude Law.
