Timothée Chalamet has played many different types of characters throughout his career. From playing nobility to a warrior, a lovesick teenage boy, and a cannibal, his versatility as an actor is commendable, to say the least. Although he has worn many different faces, there is one thing that stays constant through all his characters; their physique.

Throughout all of his films, he has had a constant lean figure that has almost become a signature for him. Many would think it to be intentional, while some might think that there is nothing he can do about it. Here is how he is able to maintain his iconic look.

Timothée Chalamet’s Natually Lean Build

While Timothée Chalamet has avoided the themes of being typecast, he has not been able to escape the title of being a ‘skinny boy’. Some would say that a warrior such as Paul Atreides should be more muscular, he proves them otherwise. It is not that he fears the constant weight gain and loss that is an unfortunate reality of Hollywood, but rather it is personally not for him.

This is not to say that the actor is against any physical changes for the roles that he plays, as he famously lost a lot of weight when he played a cannibal in Bones and All, as well as a drug addict in Beautiful Boy. It would just seem that he does not preach physical vanity over his skills as an actor. He even spoke to Vanity on this.

“I never want to say that losing 20 pounds for the film or getting into the headspace would be what the experience of an addict would be, because that’s not fair,” said Chalamet about his physical change in Beautiful Boy.

He is known for having a diet that consists of whatever he likes to eat and is not too strict with what he puts in his body. It would not be far-fetched to say that metabolism is the key contributor to how Chalamet maintains his iconic build.

Even Eating Lots of Chocolate On The Set Of Wonka Did Not Alter Timothée Chalamet’s Physique

While it is established that Timothée Chalamet does not like to gain a lot of weight for his roles, muscle or otherwise, there was one film where he ended up pushing this limit. During an interview with People Magazine, Paul King, the director of Wonka revealed that the cast and crew of the film ended up ingesting a lot of chocolates on the set of the film. They were getting to play taste-testers for their on-set chocolate maker.

“I think I’ve [gained] about 50 pounds, but I hope I can lose it before [the movie] comes out,” said Paul King, adding, “It’s a miracle that Timmy remains so slim and handsome,” he quippes. “I’m trying to fatten him up, but it’s hard to do.”

Interestingly enough, Chalamet also ended up eating a lot of them. However, he managed to maintain his physique throughout. The director even joked that he was trying to ‘fatten him up’, which was to no avail.
