Jujutsu Kaisen has taken every fan theory and thrown it down the garbage disposal. Gege Akutami has always been a mangaka with the most unexpected twists up their sleeve. The latest chapters have taken fans through a roller coaster of emotions no one saw coming. From tragedy to unexpected happiness and then earth-shattering melancholy, if there is a manga that personifies mood swings, it is Jujutsu Kaisen.
The latest chapters of the manga have proposed the idea of Gojo’s return, only for it to be Yuta pulling the strings. While many did not expect this, it is up to the special-grade sorcerer to go fight the King of Curses in a rematch that gives the fans what they want, while taking away a major element from it. Gojo’s soul may not be present, but his powers are; barred from his six eyes.
Yuta Can Magnify Gojo’s Powers
Chapters 260 and 261 of Jujutsu Kaisen proved to be some of the most crucial moments in the series. The presence of Gojo’s body with Yuta’s mind brings about the possibility of a rematch between the Honored One and the King of Curses with a cruel twist. The latest chapter saw both Yuta (Gojo) and Sukuna activating their domains. While both Malevolent Shrine and Unlimited Void have clashed against each other, Gojo was seen struggling to keep up with Sukuna’s domain expansion because of its nature.
Unlimited Void happens to be a closed barrier domain, as compared to Malevolent Shrine, which is an open barrier domain. Chapter 261 could take that very fact and the happenstance of their sure hits being nullified by taking it a step further. Sukuna is not just fighting Gojo’s powers anymore. He is also fighting Yuta and his intellect.
Yuta can copy a technique for as long as Rika is fully present. The time limit for that happening is only 5 minutes. While it doesn’t sound like a lot, in Jujutsu Kaisen, someone like Gojo only needs 0.2 seconds to cast a domain to defeat his foes. So a lot can happen in five minutes.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Unexpected Road
Open domains have a big advantage over closed-barrier domains because of their extendable sure hits. That was the very thing that gave Gojo a hard time in the first place. It is only understandable that Yuta might face a similar limitation. However, the ability to copy techniques may last for 5 minutes, but there is more. Yuta has the fear of being trapped in Gojo Satoru’s body forever. If that happens, he is not just copying the techniques, but using them as is own. That gives him the opportunity to expand on those techniques as well.
As such, Yuta could upgrade Unlimited Void and instead of keeping it as a closed barrier domain, he could turn it into an open one. This could catch not only Sukuna off guard, but also everyone else. Open domains going up against open domains leave the chance of a sure hit still out in the open, making Sukuna vulnerable and also his Malevolent Shrine.
While the domain type isn’t all-powerful; seeing that the barrier’s extension allows for a bigger range of attack for both parties, the stakes increase by a lot. Both Yuta (Gojo) and Sukuna going head to head against each other creates a rematch with bigger possibilities for Gojo to win and for Yuta to unleash potential beyond expectation.
