One Piece follows the journey of Monkey D. Luffy and his crewmates. Every member of the ship follows their dream and tries to help their comrades in fulfilling their dream. Eiichiro Oda designed the Straw Hat Pirates in such a manner that each one of them has a unique dream but converges at helping Luffy to become the King of the Pirates.

Vinsmoke Sanji has one of the most unique dreams of finding the All Blue. Apart from him, there is another person on the Thousand Sunny who has an interesting and equally troublesome dream. That person is Nami, the ship’s navigator. Even though she has a dream, the fans rarely get to see her working on it. To stop the fans from worrying, Oda sensei gave the perfect reason why she is seldom seen drawing maps.

Nami is one of the earliest to join the Straw Hat Pirates. She acts as the ship’s navigator and has a dream of drawing the entire map of the world. As a child, she used to make maps of the Cocoyashi Village. Soon, Nami developed a passion for maps and wanted to draw a map of the entire world. But lately, she is always busy with the crew and their missions and is rarely seen focussing on drawing maps.

In One Piece Volume 90 SBS, one of the fans asked Eiichiro Oda whether she was still following her dream. Eiichiro Oda answered,

“Of course she has. Every day, she follows the routine of drawing maps after dinner. What you see in the story is during daytime when everyone needs her as a navigator to keep the ship sailing, there’s a lot of stuff to take care of on deck, wouldn’t you agree?”

It is great to see that Nami is still passionate about drawing maps. She spends the entire day with the crew and still finds time for herself to draw maps. Since she does it off panel, no one notices how hard she works. After officially joining the Straw Hat Pirates, she has traversed several islands. She went to Skypiea, the Fishman Island, Zou, Whole Cake Island, the Land of Wano, and now the Egghead Island. Her map collection might be the best in the One Piece universe.

Nami Might Soon Fulfil Her Dream In One Piece

Nami has traversed multiple unknown territories during her journey. She even went to two of the Yonko territories and came back alive. So, she has more than half of the world map completed. With One Piece in its Final Saga, it might be soon for Nami to finish drawing the entire world map. Eiichiro Oda mentioned that after the Wano arc, he would draw the biggest war in One Piece‘s history.

With Blackbeard, Gorosei, and Shanks all making their move at the same time, the Straw Hats might face their biggest challenge yet. The Egghead Island arc is coming to an end. After landing on the island, Nami is yet to board the ship and complete the island’s map. She would prioritize drawing the map as soon as she reaches the ship.

Fans have a newfound respect for her after knowing how hard she works. It is difficult to do two things simultaneously. But Nami does it without complaining. Eiichiro Oda has done such a great job with One Piece that as soon as Luffy reaches Laughtale, it fulfills most of his crewmembers’ dreams. Usopp would become a great warrior of the sea, Nico Robin would know the entire history of the world, Zoro would become the strongest swordsman, and Nami would have her world map.
