Filmmakers and video games are the real deal today. Who would’ve thought a decade ago that a whole TV series could be inspired from video games? The trend began after Netflix’s Castlevania hit the numbers in 2017. This marked the beginning of a trend that might go on for an indefinite time in the future since the popularity of video games is significantly on the rise. Eventually, an adaption of the game League of Legends was made into an animated series, Arcane.
One of the greatest Netflix hits of 2023 was The Last of Us, also adapted from Naughty Dog’s game of the same name. Starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, the show earned a billion-dollar success. Therefore, cementing the faith in video games, another show is set to roll in next year. Much like The Last of Us, this show will also be set in a post-apocalyptic, but retrofuturistic, and atompunk aesthetic.
Fallout, a TV adaptation of the game is building up excitement for fans as its release date draws closer. The game follows a rather satirical plotline based in a nuclear wasteland, and the show shall sport the same. With the rising buzz, more details flow in revealing when and where fans may watch it.

When to watch Fallout?
Fallout will be available to the audience around mid-next year. It is scheduled to release on April 12, 2023, but there is still quite some planning to do. The upcoming show is being developed by Lisa and Christopher Nolan‘s brother Jonathan Nolan, with Kitler Films, Amazon MGM Studios, and Bethesda Game Studios, and Bethesda Softworks as production partners.
Who is the cast?
The cast of the TV show includes Walton Goggins, Ella Purnell, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Kyle MacLachlan, and Aaron Moten, among others.
Purnell’s Lucy will feature as a Vault Dweller with a positive mindset and a true American spirit. However, after her loved ones are threatened with danger, her optimistic nature is at a crossroads. Goggins will star as The Ghoul, a noseless ghoul who survives the nuclear wasteland as a ruthless Bounty Hunter. MacLachlan will play Overseer Hank and father to Lucy with an equally idealistic nature. Moten will portray Maximus, a young soldier with an unfortunate past, committed to the Brotherhood of Steel.
What will the episodes be about?
Fallout will not directly represent any of the games by Bethesda Games, but it is set in the Fallout universe which makes it a canon story.
The story will be based in Los Angeles in a retrofuturistic theme where people are still obsessed with the 1940s. The situational crisis follows 219 years after a nuclear war took place in 2077. The show will revolve around three plotlines simultaneously, all pointing towards a similar goal. That is, to find an artifact that holds the power to overturn the power dynamics of their world. As of now, director Jonathan Nolan is done with the first three episodes, per Variety.
One out of the three storylines will shed light on Lucy’s journey into the real world, unprotected from the confinement of subterranean vaults where she has spent her life. It housed many survivors from the nuclear apocalypse. After Lucy is forced to step out of her home, she faces the deadly challenges of the harsh world she lives in.
Maximus’s story spins around his association with the military-like group, The Brotherhood of Steel. The group intends to restore law and order in their world, and Maximus is kept in charge of a Power Armor suit.
As for The Ghoul, he is a charming yet noseless Bounty Hunter, who was scarred by events from the nuclear war.
Where to watch Fallout?
The TV series will be available on Amazon Prime after its release in April. It is expected that Amazon shall do the usual weekly releases so that fans may catch up or even get to binge-watch the first episode.
Given the success of The Last of Us, fans have high hopes for Fallout as well. Until then, we will simply have to wait for what’s coming.
