The 52-year-old actor, who is married to Rhea Durham and has four children, has frequently stated in interviews that he hopes his religious beliefs will be inherited by his kids. He is, after all, a very loving family man, and that is one of his best qualities. Raised Catholic, the actor frequently referred to his faith as ‘the most important part’ of his life.

Devout Catholic Mark Wahlberg Found An Effective Approach To Parenting

Mark Wahlberg is a shining example of selflessness and devotion to his Catholic faith in Hollywood. Furthermore, he has always tried to live out his strong Catholic faith rather than imposing it on his kids. In a previous interview with Risen Magazine, the actor disclosed:

“The most effective thing is being engaged in every aspect of their life, but then also leading by example.. When my kids see me go to church everyday, when they see me get on my hands and my knees… they [can see] and know how grateful I am and how appreciative I am.”

The BAFTA Award-winning actor made it clear that he also hoped his opinions would give his kids a “thoughtful” understanding of life and the reality that we have what others lack. Ideally, this would

“Rub off on them. But sometimes you have to just get down to old-fashioned discipline too. It’s important to be involved and communicate with them and make sure they can trust you, and share with you, and rely on you. They need to count on you to be there.”

Mark Wahlberg’s Goal Never To ‘Force’ His Faith On His Children

Mark Wahlberg would prefer to lead by example rather than just talk about the Catholic faith when it comes to educating his four children about it. The Father Stu actor admitted on TODAY that he would never “force” his children with wife Rhea Durham to inherit his strong religious beliefs:

“They think dad’s crazy, and he’s boring. But even with my faith, I don’t force it on them. But they know that dad can’t start the day without being in prayer, can’t start the day without reading my Scripture or going to Mass.”

Additionally, Wahlberg aspired to combine his acting career with his faith. The Daddy’s Home actor revealed his new professional ambition to produce more substantial content for his audience. He told Entertainment Tonight:

“I feel like this is starting a new chapter for me in that, now, doing things like this –– real substance –– can help people. I definitely want to focus on making more. I wouldn’t say necessarily just faith-based content but things that will help people.”

Being optimistic is admirable. Wahlberg also discussed how optimism has changed and grown stronger over time. It was not something he had to learn, he told Risen Magazine, adding that he generally has an optimistic outlook on life.

“Obviously we live in the real world and bad things happen. But I remember the overall theme – having a bigger picture [than just a singular viewpoint], and having my faith, deeply rooted in Catholicism and the Lord.”
