It seems like the battle on Meridia planet to destroy the Terminid supercolony is getting intense. Helldivers 2 players got a strategic update that confirms that the attack on the supercolony has caused more Terminid outbreaks. Many players are concerned as they believe this is a hint that a new terrifying unit from the first Helldivers game is about to enter the battlefield: Hive Lords.
Since Helldivers 2‘s release, there have been many speculations that Arrowhead Game Studios has been planning to add Hive Lords in the game, particularly because many players found their remains on Terminid planets. Clearly, this is the perfect time to add these units to the game as the battle on Meridia is getting more and more chaotic.
Are Hive Lords coming to Helldivers 2?
Players of the first Helldivers game are aware of how difficult it is to take down Hive Lords. In Helldivers 2, these Terminid units did not exist and instead, their skeletons were scattered around Terminid planets. Players found it a bit strange but they have been expecting Arrowhead to add them to the game at some point.
It seems like that moment is finally here as the battle of Meridia may force these units to come out of hiding. The Hive Lords are massive sandworms that are capable of building tunnels in a planet’s crust, making way for more Terminid units. Taking down these units is quite tricky as they navigate under the ground. We’ve seen new Terminid units lately, so players shouldn’t really be surprised when they come across Hive Lords on the battlefield.
The attack on Meridia has caused Terminid outbreaks
One of the main reasons why players believe that Hive Lords are coming is because of a new in-game message. Players got a strategic update informing them about the outbreaks within the Terminid faction that were caused by to destruction of their Supercolony in Meridia. The game has ordered Helldivers to focus on the supercolony as this may be their only chance to destroy it.
This doesn’t seem like a good idea to a lot of players as the plan to wipe out Terminids has backfired in the past, with the Terminid Control System. Once again, players believe that injecting Dark Fluid into their supercolony would cause mutations. The community has a strong feeling that a big threat is coming their way and they need to start preparing for it.
Helldivers 2 is available on Windows and PlayStation 5.
