It is surprising to see the renewed love and appreciation for Avengers: Age of Ultron, which has historically been considered the weakest among the four. The huge love for Avengers: Infinity War is understandable as it showed Thanos in his full glory and presented a unique story where the Avengers had no chance of winning. Nevertheless, all four films are good in their own right.

Chris Evans has had a great run in the MCU as Captain America. He and Robert Downey Jr. shepherded the franchise for over a decade till 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. The Marvel star recently made an appearance at Emerald City Con 2024, where he talked about his time in the MCU and the current state of Marvel films.

At the event, Evans revealed that Captain America: The Winter Soldier is his personal favorite Marvel film because of the wonderful experience filming the movie. He stated that he felt more like the character by the second film, and the Russo Brothers took risks with its narrative and the character. He called the experience of making the film the most satisfying one during his run in the MCU. He said (via YouTube)

“It’s my personal favorite Marvel movie that I was a part of. It’s not just for the movie itself but for the experience. The first film, I was so nervous. You know what you’re stepping into and as a result, you’re playing defense and you’re playing not to lose. When ‘Winter Solider’ came around, we were playing to win. And it’s the first movie with the Russo Brothers. We were taking more risks, and the character felt more fleshed out. It was one of the more satisfying experiences I’ve had in my Marvel run.”

The film is considered one of the best MCU films. Evans managed to elevate the character from the first film through its great narrative and the character’s emotional thread with Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes. Fans can watch the film and all of the Avengers films on Disney+.
