The House Stark of the North has so far been absent from the Dragon tale. With all the events happening in the Southern parts of Westoros, the show had not ventured to the North until now. But with the story progressing, the new trailer has finally given us a glimpse of the Starks – mainly one Cregan Stark – the Wolf of the North. And fans are stoked to see someone from one of their most favored houses from the Game of Thrones universe.

Cregan Stark: The Wolf of The North Joins The Blacks

In the recently released trailer for House of the Dragon season 2, championing the Blacks in the war, we got a glimpse of Jacaerys Velaryon and Cregan Stark in Winterfell. Jace was the firstborn son of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and her first husband, Ser Laenor Velaryon, and knows as the Prince of the Dragonstone. During the Dance of the Dragons, he was sent by his mother, Rhaenyra, to gain the alligence of the other lords of Westoros, and he managed to befriend Cregan Stark.

According to the books, Cregan, along with the rest of Winterfell, until then, were very removed from the political games happening at King’s Landing. But befriending Jace led him to join hands with the Blacks and offer them his allegiance. It was done with a promise that Jace’s first-born daughter would marry Cregan’s son and heir, Rickon Stark.

Tom Taylor is playing Cregan Stark in House of the Dragon season 2, and fans are eagerly waiting to see how this character shapes up on-screen. Being one of the favored characters from the books, Cregan is very important to the story further down the line. Even after the death of Jace and Rhaenyra, he marches South with his men, roughly 10,000 of them, only to find Aegon II was poisoned.

Being a just leader, he condemns this act, as he believed that Aegon II should have been killed in battle, not poisoned with trickery. Cregan later becomes the Hand of the King to Aegon III – Rhaenyra and Daemon’s son, when he inherits the Iron Throne after the death of Aegon II. But he doesn’t stay as Hand for long, and returns to Winterfell after the Dance of the Dragon formally comes to an end.

House of the Dragon Season 2 Will Be Eventful

At the end of season 1 of House of the Dragon, we saw Lucerys, Rhaenyra, and Vaelor’s second son, dying at the hands of Aemond and his dragon – Vhagar. Aemond’s inability to control Vhagar leads to Luke’s death, which was not Aemond’s intention initially. This death will have a major impact on the upcoming season and Rhaenyra as a mother and a person.

The Dance of the Dragons is finally upon us, and Rhaenyra, led by the grief of losing her son, will be ready to take her revenge on the Greens. Even though we saw her contemplating taking Otto’s offer of bending the knee to maintain peace, Luke’s death completely changes the scene. Now, there is no denying that blood and fire will reign as Rhaenyra goes to claim her birthright from Aegon II, the one the Black calls the false king.

House of the Dragon season 2 will start streaming on Max from June 16.
