Claiming that the potential Spider-Man show has been long in development under the name of Spider-Man: Freshman Year, Brad Winderbaum mentioned they have recently revamped the title of the series. However, after the discussion regarding the Spider-Man series hit the internet, fans expressed their disappointment in one aspect of the storyline.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Spider-Man is Developing Under Marvel Studios

Beau DeMayo‘s X-Men ’97 recently concluded its season one under Marvel Studios on May 15, leaving fans in suspense about the introduction of Apocalypse and what the future holds for Gambit. However, since there’s still time for season 2 to stream on Disney+, Marvel’s Head of Animation, Brad Winderbaum discussed other projects that are in development under Marvel Studios, with ComicBook.

Revealing plans for the long-in-development Spider-Man series, Brad Winderbaum teased how the show might soon hit the streamer.  Formerly known as Spider-Man: Freshman Year, the show has been currently renamed as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Discussing plans and storyline that the upcoming Spider-Man show might follow, Winderbaum created hype around the series.

I mean, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is amazing, to say the least. I think it’s really going to surprise people. It is very much like a cut from that Steve Ditko era of the comics. It’s Peter Parker back in high school just trying to make it work, take care of his aunt, completely broke, and having to be a superhero.

It’s so essentially Spider-Man, and what Jeff Trammell, the creator of that show, did, which I think people are going to love, is he built this ensemble of characters around Peter that you fall in love with. Similarly, just because it’s long-form storytelling, as those relationships brew when the stakes rise in that first season, things feel really tragic and dangerous, and pretty incredible. So, I love that show.

Well, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man isn’t the only project that Marvel Animation is currently working on. There’s also an animated series tied to the Black Panther films, which is set to focus on the secret agents of Wakanda embedded worldwide. Brad Winderbaum spoke broadly about the show, titled Eyes of Wakanda.

Fans Find One Major Problem with Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

However, despite Brad Winderbaum revealing Marvel’s plans for the upcoming Spider-Man and Black Panther animated shows, fans seem more interested in the former than the latter. After the reports from ComicBook hit social media, fans took a keen interest in the storyline for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

Despite the excitement surrounding the show’s fresh take on the iconic web-slinger, fans are expressing their discontent with the series’ setting. Well, the main point of contention remains Marvel’s decision to focus on Peter Parker’s high school days rather than moving on to his college years.

Fans took to social media to voice their frustration about this particular problem. Unwilling to see more of his school days, netizens expressed their desire to witness Peter Parker’s college years and witness how things take place in that setting. Unfortunately, Brad Winderbaum confirmed that the series will indeed take place during Peter Parker’s high school days, leaving many fans feeling disappointed and underwhelmed.
