Bethesda holds the crown for having some of the best and most immersive first-person open-world RPG games, despite these titles being over a decade ago.

Fallout is known as Bethesda’s IP, but the maker of Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment, has a very deep history with the franchise and made New Vegas.

Since then, the studio has learned a lot through some of its other releases, including The Outer Worlds, a critically acclaimed open-world sci-fi RPG. All of those years of hard work and experience have manifested into its upcoming release.

There was a lot to learn from the story trailer that came out at the Xbox showcase, but that was only a small part of what’s to learn.

According to the synopsis:

You are the envoy of Aedyr, a distant land, sent to investigate rumors of a spreading plague throughout the Living Lands – an island full of mysteries and secrets, danger and adventure, and choices and consequences, and untamed wilderness.

To add to this, Xbox dropped a 27-minute interview with Avowed‘s game director, Carrie Patel, who had some awesome details to share about the game.

Some highlights include an optional third-person view, improved combat since the last teaser, a feature for mixing and matching abilities, skill trees, more dialogue options depending on your character, and more.

Now, this is more information than what was revealed in the story trailer, leading to some people’s question: why was this not shown yesterday?

The runtime of the trailer was only a few minutes, so it would’ve been difficult to fit all of this information into the showcase. That being said, some of these changes and new additions are quite interesting to hear.

Seeing how Grounded and The Outer Worlds turned out, there’s little to no doubt that Obsidian’s magic touch is going to make this game something to remember.

At least, those are the type of expectations that people are holding.

Seeing how the game is done and in its polishing phase, it doesn’t look like there will be too much time left till it hits stores.

The game hasn’t received a release date yet, but that will hopefully change soon enough.
