David Tennant’s Doctor Who Faces Backlash
The British actor David Tennant’s Doctor Who has been recognized by fans as a progressive example of sci-fi entertainment for years. However, on a recent note while celebrating the show’s 60th anniversary, during an episode, the BBC series received intense hate and backlash from fans.
In the episode, David Tennant’s character finds himself helping an alien named “The Meep” for the occasion. At that particular moment, he somehow assumes the alien’s gender – voiced by Miriam Margolyes – and thus gets scolded by his sidekick Rose Noble, played by transgender actor Yasmin Finney.
“Yes, The Meep, I promised I can help him to get home.” Doctor said.
“You’re assuming ‘he’ as a pronoun?” Rose Noble asked.
“True. Yes, sorry, good point. Are you he, she, or they?” Doctor asked.
This particular interaction between David Tennant’s character, Yasmin Finney’s character, and the adorable fluffy alien called Beep The Meep got slammed by viewers on social media. Following this particular episode, netizens started criticizing Doctor Who for forcefully trying to be “woke” entertainment.
Fans Defend Doctor Who Amid Criticism
While several netizens gathered on X, to brutally slam David Tennant’s show for one particular interaction in an episode, a few of his fans appeared online in support of the actor and his show. Amid netizens slamming the BBC series for throwing a political “woke” agenda into the show, few fans use logic to save Doctor Who.
Few fans slammed the haters for finding unnecessary mistakes and criticizing the show. Discussing how Doctor Who has entertained and educated viewers for years, fans are unwilling to witness the show getting hate and criticism for trying to impart knowledge among audiences about gender and pronouns.
I mean let's be real, there's no observable control meep of a different gender so it's valid to check what the meep was exactly

Why would an alien – different species from our own with its own biology – use our biology as a reference?

Backlash from people who have clearly never seen the show and don't really matter or have lives

"Backlash" is a strong word for a handful of reactionarys that clearly ain't watched the show before moaning about a 20 second moment within a scene pic.twitter.com/dYwYmnRsUD
