Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming Deadpool 3 movie is almost around the corner, and fans are still getting new information about the third installment. One of the most interesting arcs in the film is Wade Wilson’s love life, and it seems like it is not happening anymore.
Morena Baccarin portrayed Vanessa Carlysle in the movies, and although she’s only a minor character, her arc affects that of Wade’s so much. As his fiancée, the events that happen to the character drive Deadpool’s motivations, and as per a new report from director Shawn Levy, it seems these efforts were futile.
Deadpool 3’s Vanessa Has A New Boyfriend
In an interview with Total Film via Collider, filmmaker Shawn Levy revealed what Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is up to when the audience meets him in the third movie.
It takes place six years after the last film. He’s proving to be useless at selling cars, hawking Blind Al’s blood-pressure meds to make rent, and his beloved Vanessa has a new boyfriend.
The first two concepts were not surprising at all, but what caught fans’ attention was the statement that claimed Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa has a new lover. Whatever happened to her and Wade? Netizens could not seem to grasp this reality, and many expressed their disappointment.

With Hugh Jackman on board as Wolverine, Wade’s relationship with Vanessa perhaps will receive little attention. Some fans also speculate the move was to slowly detach Deadpool from Fox characters so they could seamlessly throw him into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It is definitely shocking news because, for the first two movies, Vanessa played an important role in pushing Deadpool’s story.
Morena Baccarin On Playing Vanessa Carlysle
Morena Baccarin spoke with Screen Rant and shared what she thought about Vanessa and Wade’s relationship through the years.
I think that the franchise and Ryan and the director, they’ve done a really great job of always reinventing that relationship and making it interesting, but maintaining the core thing that keeps them always coming back to each other.
The Brazilian actress noted how the duo is “such well-met characters” and they are always “in and out of each other’s lives constantly.” She added that it’s the same way in the comics.
Moreover, the Firefly star teased that fans will see more of this in the upcoming movie. She also clarified that her work is done in the third film. Her return is one of the most anticipated events after the controversial “fridging” of her character in Deadpool 2.
It’s a mystery what happens to Vanessa in the upcoming sequel, but whether or not she discovers mutant powers like in the comics, her return to the franchise surely keeps the door ajar for a range of possibilities.
Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26.
