Tom Holland is an exceptionally talented actor. Though he gained a majority of his recognition through his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Spider-Man, since then, he has proved himself time and time again. Through roles like The Devil All the Time, Cherry, and The Crowded Room he has proved himself as a force to be reckoned with, perfectly understanding his craft and growing as an actor.
Recently, Holland has taken one of the biggest steps any actor can take; moving from the silver screen to theatre. It has recently been announced that the actor will be starring in the new ROMEO & JULIET play at the West End. This has prompted many to wonder how it will compare to Leonardo DiCaprio’s 1998 classic.
Tom Holland Will Star As Romeo In The West End
One of the most formative experiences for an actor is moving from acting in movies to acting in plays. Going from filming one movie in the course of a few months in bits and pieces, to performing the same story multiple times a week, for months, helps them polish their skills in a way that nothing else can.
Some of the greatest actors, including Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Scott, Tom Hiddleston, and Morgan Freeman have followed a similar path for their careers. Tom Holland is no different in this regard, having starred in Billy Elliot for almost two years before he was even an adult.
It would seem that the actor is making his way back onto the stage, as it was recently revealed by Discussing Film on X, that he would be starring in a new stage adaptation for the West End. The beloved actor will be playing the role of Romeo in the new ROMEO & JULIET play. This has made many fans compare the upcoming portrayal to Leonardo DiCaprio’s Romeo + Juliet, where he starred alongside Claire Danes.
Fans Compare Tom Holland And Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the biggest stars in the world. The one work he has to thank for kickstarting his success was his appearance in the 1996 adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. This film became a classic in every way, being referenced and remade time and time again with some twist or the other.
Being as significant as it was, it is expected that every single time a new version comes out, it will be compared to his work. Tom Holland is not exempt from this.

As soon as the news of his casting as Romeo was released to the world, one of the first questions that were asked was if his portrayal would live up to the standard set by DiCaprio. While the film was extremely memorable and iconic for a reason, knowing how good of an actor Holland is, there is no doubt that he will meet the fans’ expectations.
Another question that was asked by fans was who would be playing the role of Juliet. With the actors personal life influencing their answers, they could not help but root for Zendaya to get the part.
