The iconic British secret agent James Bond created by Ian Fleming has been mesmerizing fans for a long time since the character hit the silver screen. But despite the character’s massive fanbase, indeed, 007 is far from being a perfect role model for fans. However, that didn’t stop netizens from voting for the secret agent as the greatest movie hero of all time.
According to Express UK, the netizens of the United Kingdom were offered a new poll from Pulse, to vote for the greatest hero of all time. And according to reports, 2000 Brits participated in the poll and offered nearly 30% of the vote to James Bond. Compared to Daniel Radcliffe’s Harry Potter getting 28% votes, Spider-Man getting 24% and Indiana Jones earning 22%, 007 seemed to have a fair win.
Despite all odds that make James Bond more human than his competitors, fans voted the most for the British secret agent. Turning 007 into a fan-favorite icon, the new UK poll also read that audiences prefer to watch heroes over villains because “good always triumphs over evil”. Meanwhile, as the spy won with 30% votes, fans again started associating Henry Cavill with the $7.8B Bond franchise.
Fans Demand Henry Cavill as the Next James Bond After Daniel Craig
Ever since Daniel Craig departed from the James Bond movies, netizens have been fan-casting Henry Cavill in the titular spy role. The British actor was repeatedly chosen by many fans and media outlets as the next best cast to play 007. But unfortunately, there have been no reports supporting or suggesting any progress with his casting.
Meanwhile appearing on Josh Horowitz’s Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Henry Cavill revealed how he once came close to playing the role of James Bond before it went to Daniel Craig. Prior to Martin Campbell’s Casino Royale, Cavill auditioned for the titular spy character but unfortunately was turned down, since he was way too young for the role.
“They told me I was close. They told me it was ultimately down to, and this is what I’ve been told, it was just down to me and Daniel (Craig), and I was the younger option.”
After getting rejected once, due to his young age, Henry Cavill unfortunately didn’t try associating with the $7.8B franchise, ever again, despite learning about Daniel Craig’s recent departure. Thereafter, the actor got engaged with Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming spy parody Argylle featuring Dua Lipa and John Cena. Further, Barbara Broccoli claimed that they are looking for someone in their 30s to play the role, which rules out Cavill since he is in his 40s.
Although these reports sadden fans, they still keep their hopes high for Henry Cavill to be the next best James Bond. Now with 007 winning the UK poll with the highest votes, fans believe there are even more chances for the fan-favorite actor to play the iconic role. However, nothing about the next James Bond casting has been confirmed so far.
