Santa Monica Studios is creating a lot of buzz around the internet with the latest rumors that they are working on a God of War project that could likely be a sequel to the 2022 video game God of War Ragnarök or a DLC to the base game.
With the rumored project on the horizon, the question of who will voice Kratos in the upcoming project remains to be seen. Is it going to be the revered Christopher Judge reprising and lending his voice to Kratos again or is it going to be someone new?
A God of War Sequel or a DLC Is On The Horizon
Back in 2022, God of War Ragnarök was released in the wild and was welcomed to rave reviews and game awards upon its release. With Fimbulwinter upon Kratos and Atreus, the duo continues their journey of killing gods and starting a new life (once again) until Ragnarök arrives.
With the game set in Norse mythology, the story seems to be over in God of War Ragnarök or is it? As per notable leaker ViewerAnon’s tweet, Santa Monica Studio is reportedly working on a project set in the god-killing franchise. It could either be a DLC to the 2022 video game or it could be a stand-alone game or a “half-sequel” until the real sequel releases.
IGN’s bang-on here – this is how you cut the gap between releases while also maybe letting greener teams work on the half-sequel with established tools and support. Santa Monica Studio’s working on new GOD OF WAR stuff and I wonder whether it will be RAGNAROK DLC or a half-sequel https://t.co/MxXUyNUvKT

All in all, it could be a DLC or a “half-sequel” but in the end, all that matters for a really good God of War project is the incredible cast and the storyline that the game follows. Speaking of the cast, will Christopher Judge be a part of the upcoming video game?
Will Christopher Judge Voice Kratos Again?
Christopher Judge replaced Terrence C. Carson when he took on the role of Kratos in the 2018 video game God of War. Reprising his role as Kratos in the 2022 video game sequel, the actor solidified himself as the new Kratos with his incredibly deep voice and his motion-capture body.
With Santa Monica Studio developing a project in the God of War franchise, the answer to whether Christopher Judge will reprise his role is simple: Yes and No. At the time of writing, it hasn’t been confirmed what the project is going to be about. With rumors that it would be a stand-alone Atreus/Loki story, there could very well be a possibility that Kratos may not be a part of the project.
But if the character of Kratos is indeed a part of the project, then it seems hardly a question that Christopher Judge could really be replaced. Although nothing has been confirmed or denied, a God of War story without the voice and motion capture of Christopher Judge seems impossible at this point in time.
