While the film majorly focused on Bill Skarsgård as the lead, Jessica Rothe stole eyes with her phenomenal action sequences as June 27, an enforcer working for the Van Der Koys. Certainly, Rothe’s role demanded her to go through extreme training to convincingly become the ultimate fighter in the film. The actress therefore revealed learning 17 forms of Martial Arts in preparation for her role.

Popularly known as the star of the Happy Death Day horror movies, Jessica Rothe stepped into the role of the female lead, June 27, in Boy Kills World. The revenge action fantasy produced by Sam Raimi and Roy Lee also featured the IT actor Bill Skarsgård in the titular role as Boy.
According to THR, Jessica Rothe took on the part after the original choice for the role, Samara Weaving exited the project due to scheduling conflicts. Described as a stunning action spectacle set in a dystopian fever dream reality, Boy Kills World came as a debut feature from Moritz Mohr.
The film follows the story of Bill Skarsgård’s Boy, a deaf-mute with a vibrant imagination, trained by a mysterious master to become an instrument of death and avenge his family’s murder. While the film majorly focused on Boy’s revenge journey, it offered shocking revelations surrounding Jessica Rothe’s June 27, who worked as an enforcer for the Van Der Koys (whom Boy was trying to assassinate).

During her appearance at ComicCon Cape Town via Agents of Fandom, Jessica Rothe discussed the grueling training that she went through and the people who inspired her to push herself for the role. During her conversation, Rothe noted learning 17 forms of martial arts to transform into June 27.
“Women are so strong and I physically became stronger than I have ever been, on this job. And so much of it was because I was so inspired by Nadine Theron & Jacqueline Geurts. I learned how to do things that I never thought I would have been able to do and I found an inner resilience. Women are strong and badass and also it is really fun to be angry sometimes.”
