X-Men movies have featured some of the most epic and powerful mutants on Earth. One of them is the veteran X-Men member, Ororo Munroe – aka Storm. Initially played by Halle Berry in 2000’s X-Men to 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, the role later went to Alexandra Shipp, who played the younger version of Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016).
Taking over Halle Berry’s mantle once and for all, Alexandra Shipp reprised her role in X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) and also had a cameo in Deadpool 2. However, after years of playing the mutant role, Shipp expressed her disinterest in returning as Storm in the MCU. Shipp’s comments surprisingly convinced fans of Berry’s return to X-Men.
Alexandra Shipp Wants No Part of the X-Men Franchise
Following her debut in 2016 as the younger version of Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse, Alexandra Shipp became a prominent part of the MCU. Taking over the mantle of her predecessor Halle Berry, Shipp flawlessly portrayed the role of the X-Men mutant in Deadpool 2 as well as X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019).
However, on a recent note, Alexandra Shipp no longer seems interested in playing the superhero role. Speaking with ET during the premiere of Anyone But You, the actress thus addressed her future with the MCU. Discussing the possibility of her return as the iconic mutant, Shipp surprisingly shared her disinterest in the role.
“You know, what’s kind of funny is no. Yeah. I’m not interested. The thing is, what I love about the career that I’ve been able to form is that I can play many different things and at this point, I feel like I’ve done what I needed to do with Storm and I think that there are other women who could take on that role and really kill it and I support that. But for me, I just feel like I’m at a different place in my life.”
Speaking about her disinterest in playing the role of a mutant in the MCU, Alexandra Shipp openly expressed her desire to hand over her position to some other actress.
After Alexandra Shipp Fans Believe in Halley Berry’s Return
After Alexandra Shipp’s discussion with ET went viral on social media, fans started hoping for Halle Berry’s return. Convinced with the fact that Shipp was speaking about none but her predecessor, fans started sparking debate on X. Quick to hope for Berry’s return, netizens expressed their desire to witness the OG Storm taking over the role once again.

Previously, Halle Berry debuted as the iconic mutant Storm in 2000’s X-Men and went on to appear in four installments of X-Men, until 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. Delivering a phenomenal performance, Berry always wanted a bigger role for herself. But unfortunately, the actress was tricked into signing a contract after getting presented with a fake script from a studio exec, as per EW.
My guess is Halle Berry

Halle Berry is irreplaceable— ꜰɪʟᴍᴏᴘʜɪʟᴇ ❚Smug🎥█🕊️ (@nerd_mcu) January 13, 2024
Halle Berry is still talented, beautiful and relevant. If Hugh Jackman can still be Wolverine in Deadpool 3 Halle can still be Storm. Writers just need to finally do her justice.

Later on, although the actress left the MCU to appear in other critically acclaimed projects, Halle Berry is again in talks among netizens to return as Storm in the X-Men franchise. Following her successor Alexandra Shipp’s exit from the franchise, fans are convinced that it’s Berry who is going to return as Ororo Munroe. Although nothing has been confirmed by official sources yet, netizens are quick to believe that Berry will take over her mantle.
