However, proving everyone wrong and overcoming his WrestleMania 39 loss against Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes dominated the fight and eventually won the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. This had fans break into tears. Well, not only fans,  but even WWE ring announcer Samantha Irvin couldn’t hold back tears after watching Rhodes win at WrestleMania 40.

WrestleMania 40 entertained fans on Sunday night, with Day 2 action resuming at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. With six matches on the card and four championships on the line, the highlight of the event surprisingly became the thrilling match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.

Excited to see Roman Reigns taking on Cody Rhodes with the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at stake, fans experienced nail-biting suspense until the latter defeated the former. Finally exacting his revenge after his previous loss during WrestleMania 39, Rhodes won the title.

Despite being contested under “Bloodline Rules”, after losing against Roman Reigns and The Rock during the day 1 tag team match, Cody Rhodes finished his story during the main event. Although the fight spilled out into the crowd, as Reigns took Cody over the barricade and into the sea of tens of thousands of fans, Rhodes won the match after going for a cover and getting the pin.

Samantha Irvin Broke into Tears After Cody Rhodes’ Win

During the main event fight between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, several renowned wrestlers joined the match to help Rhodes. The first person to offer help was none other than Jey Uso. Then came John Cena to save Rhodes from Solo Sikoa. Unfortunately, Cena was soon dispatched after The Rock intervened, and eventually, it became Rock and Reigns vs Rhodes alone.

However, Cody Rhodes still had one more friend up his sleeve, and it was electric. Bringing in none other than The Undertaker, Rhodes took out The Rock within a brief period. As The Undertaker showed up to put Dwayne Johnson in his place, creating an epic moment, Rhodes found the opportunity to finish the story, as per Yahoo.

As The American Nightmare, aka Cody Rhodes, did it and finished the story, ring announcer Samantha Irvin broke into tears, just like Rhodes’ fans. Getting super emotional and crying, Irvin was barely able to do her job of announcing Cody Rhodes as the winner and new WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion. WWE fans got emotional at this very moment.
