The animated show featured appearances from Marvel heroes the likes of Captain America, Thor, Black Panther, and even Doctor Strange. Indeed, the reboot will follow just the same. In fact, an insider revealed that the Sorcerer Supreme will briefly join the project as well.

Doctor Strange Will Reportedly Make His Way Into X-Men ‘97

A scooper from Twitter, Marvel News and Updates, shared that “Doctor Strange will make a cameo appearance in X-Men 97 Season 1 or 2.” This is nothing new for fans who have watched the original animated show. A fan responded to the post:

Well, he did make 3 appearances in the original X-MEN ANIMATED SERIES: The Phoenix Saga, Part IV: The Starjammers, The Dark Phoenix, Part II: The Inner Circle, Nightcrawler.”

With this information, anticipating viewers can expect to see the famed sorcerer in the upcoming reboot. Moreover, executive producer Brad Winderbaum previously spoke with Variety and shared the exciting news:

It’s exactly the same level of cameos as the original series. Even though X-Men ‘97 is not in the sacred timeline, there is a universe of ‘90s cartoons that we know. Because of ‘Loki’ and every other multiverse story, we know that if your brain wants to go there, you know there’s always potential for connections.”

He echoed the same statement in his interview with Agents of Fandom, teasing fans with the idea of X-Men ’97 bringing back the fun cameos from the first installment.

I will say that, you know, just like the original series had some really fun cameos that you didn’t expect to happen, you can expect the same thing in X-Men 97.”

He also mentioned the beauty of producing content for television as compared with creating for films. Indeed, the cameo roles are exciting prospects for the show.

Something that’s fun about television is it’s a conversation with the audience. Movies are like statements; you have two hours to say something. In television, they take longer to make, and if you’re lucky enough to have multiple seasons, there’s a conversation happening with the audience.”

Surely the fans can expect a cameo from Doctor Strange as well as from other iconic Avengers and even Marvel heroes from other franchises, who knows?

X-Men ‘97 follows the events several months after the series finale of X-Men: The Animated Series. The first installment will consist of 10 episodes which will be released on a weekly basis on Disney+ from March 20 to May 15.

Interestingly, the show has already been renewed for a sequel ahead of the first season’s premiere, though it remains a mystery if fans will be getting a third one soon. Perhaps this will entirely depend on the performance of the series in the coming weeks.
