It has been four years since Disney acquired the rights to X-Men following its acquisition of 20th Century Fox. However, the process of integrating them into the MCU has been pretty slow. Apart from Ms. Marvel and Namor, no other confirmed mutant has been presented in MCU’s main timeline, but per Kevin Feige, fans can expect them on the big screen soon.

And while it’d be interesting to see how many X-Men from the Fox universe will reprise their part, fans will expect the MCU to stay true to the core of arguably the best villain in Marvel, Magneto.

Marvel Already Has a Solution to Stay True to Magneto’s Core

Like many other X-Men characters, Magneto’s story interweaves with real-life historical moments while also serving as an allegory to America’s civil rights movement. Being a Holocaust survivor, the horrific events he suffered in the concentration camps shaped him into the anti-hero he ends up becoming, who wants to attain peace for Mutants by any means necessary. But considering that it takes place back in the ’40s, one of the biggest problems that would emerge if MCU does decide to stay true to the character’s core would be the continuity, as the MCU takes place in the modern era.

But it seems, the MCU has already crafted the perfect solution for it back in Wakanda: Forever, as Namor, despite being born back in the 16th century, is still a young man in the present. And while it can’t be said for certain if every other mutant would age like Namor or not, the MCU could use this plot convenience to bring in a young Magneto while still staying true to his impactful origin.

Michael Fassbender Didn’t Shut Down the Possibility of Reprising His X-Men Part

Although Kevin Feige has assured fans that X-Men will soon merge with the MCU in the foreseeable future, it’d be interesting to see if Michael Fassbender would reprise his role if given the chance. While Fassbender previously expressed he was pretty satisfied with how Magneto’s journey ended in the Fox universe, he didn’t completely shut down the possibility of donning the suit again. He told Inverse:

“I feel like I had a great journey with X-Men, great journey with Magneto, the whole experience. I kind of feel like it’s done, but I mean, never say never, but no, nothing on the horizon.”

While fans will hope that MCU does stay true to the character’s core if they end up introducing him in the future, per recent rumors, things aren’t appearing too bright for Magneto. According to a rumor, Marvel is allegedly eyeing to introduce the X-Men without using Magneto in any capacity to distinguish themselves from the fox-universe. But considering there isn’t any substantial weight behind these claims, fans will hope these rumors have no truth to it.
