PlayStation and Xbox are the biggest and most well-known names in the gaming industry. Xbox recently announced the closure of Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks and Prey developer Arkane Austin, along with two other developers with a strong portfolio, and it hasn’t gone well.
The community has bashed the company for its decision and is worried about the fate of other developers under its umbrella. While Xbox faces criticism, one PlayStation announcement is the first for the company and a good one at that, which is rare these days given the state of the industry.
Latest PlayStation India Announcement Is a First for the Company
The PlayStation 5 has been out for a while now, and the latest model dubbed the PS5 Slim, was finally launched in India last month. The new model is slimmer and more compact than the original model, and although it has all the same specs, it comes with increased storage, from 825GB to 1TB.
Now, one might wonder what’s so special about the new model’s release in India. Sony dropped the “first” ever video advertisement for the PS5 in India, ever since the official launch. First as in, the company had not released any video advertisements for the last-generation console, the PS4.
There were advertisements for the PS3, but they were only game-focused, and this is the first time that the company is promoting its console with a video advertisement. This clearly shows that Sony is taking notice of the growing gaming community in India and wants to tap into the market.
Although many fans do not agree with the company advertising the console as “most powerful,” they appreciate how the company is focusing on the country. The PS5 has sold extremely well in India since its launch, and Sony wants to take that to another level, and the recent promotions show that.
PS5 Slim Has Also Received Its First Discount in the Country
Sony has advertised the console and games from time to time in India. The company has been selling the original model of the console at discounted prices at times and has also promoted several games with 3D advertisement banners and ads in popular mainstream newspapers, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and the PS5 Cricket 24 bundle, respectively.
The company launched the new PS5 Slim model in April and discounted the prices of the original model by up to 13,000 INR as part of the “Summer Promo.” This resulted in an increased number of sales, and Sony also discounted the latest Slim model by 5,000 INR, which can be availed of by those interested from May 1st to May 14th, 2024, or until stocks last.
However, the offer only applies to the Standard Disc Edition of the PS5 Slim, and there is no discount on the Digital Edition. The company is doing everything to bring more gamers to the platform, and it seems to be really paying off as the sales are reportedly going very well.
