Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is slated to release sometime this year after the game was initially announced at The Game Awards in 2019. Since then players have got a few glimpses of the game and are hyped for the release.
Developer Ninja Theory revealed the release window and platforms for the game at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2023 but it did not give out a specific release date. However, the release date for the Xbox-exclusive title may have just leaked, and it is closer than the players expected.
Possible Release Date for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Is Leaked
The Game Awards 2023 gave players the latest look at Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 and even though it did not reveal the release date, players were excited to get a deeper look at the game’s content, in-game environment, brilliant sound, and stunning graphics. However, the long-awaited and possible release date for the game might have just leaked.
According to the sources close to Exputer, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is scheduled to release on May 21, 2024. The origin of the source has not been revealed due to the source’s wish to remain anonymous but Exputer mentions that the information coming from the source is “reliable enough to be talked about ahead of time” and there might be an official reveal coming soon.
Developer Ninja Theory is making an appearance at the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct which will be held on January 18 at 12 PM PT where it will provide an insight into the game’s development and give behind-the-scenes look. It is expected that Ninja Theory will take this opportunity to announce the official release date and put an end to the rumors. Xbox has several exclusive titles coming this year and this will be the first one of those that will be released on Xbox Series X and S.
The first title, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was released back in 2017 and follows Senua, a warrior from the Pict tribe in Orkney, Scotland as she journeys to find her dead lover, Dillion’s soul. The game was praised for its art design, gameplay mechanics, and excellent storyline. Although several trailers for the upcoming game have been released, not much is known about its story.
The six-minute gameplay trailer that was released at The Game Awards 2021 showcased Senua traveling to a cave with a group of warriors to kill a giant. The trailer featured beautiful graphics with exciting music and a thrilling fight sequence that makes your heart race. The most recent trailer also shows Senua travelling through a cave but it doesn’t reveal much about the gameplay or the story.
However, this has left the fans wondering as to what could happen next in the game’s story and the excitement for the game is at its peak. The developer, Ninja Theory’s director Tameem Antoniades has already said that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is going to bring a “more believable and more refined” experience and that the game has a bigger ambition. Tameem also added that the game will look its predecessor like an Indie title and it has only piqued players’ interest in the game.
