Xbox has announced the latest round of games that will join its Game Pass subscription service in the month of March. The Netflix-esque service offers a vast library of games for a monthly fee. This makes it a great option for players who want to explore a wide variety of genres without the upfront cost of buying individual games.
It seems Microsoft has been closely following the Helldivers 2 discourse, with players fiercely campaigning for an Xbox release. In response, the Game Pass library will see the addition of a comical co-op shooter in March that will hopefully quench the players’ Helldivers-sized thirst.
What’s On Xbox Game Pass for March?
One of the strengths of Xbox Game Pass is its extensive library. It grants access to hundreds of titles from various generations of Xbox consoles, ensuring something for everyone. These games will be added to the service in March, with their dates of addition:
- Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun (5 March 2024)
- PAW Patrol World (7 March 2024)
- SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated (12 March 2024)
- Control: Ultimate Edition (13 March 2024)
- No More Heroes 3 (14 March 2024)
- Lightyear Frontier (19 March 2024)
- MLB The Show 24 (19 March 2024)
- Diablo IV (28 March 2024)
This list isn’t final for March, as the service is constantly expanding, not just with third-party publisher additions but also with exclusive day one releases from Xbox Game Studios. This means you can play the latest titles from these studios the very day they launch.
In recent years, the Zenimax buyout has further bolstered the library, bringing iconic franchises like Doom, Fallout, and Elder Scrolls to Game Pass. Similarly, last year’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard promises to bring even more heavyweight titles like Call of Duty to Game Pass. Diablo 4 will be the first ABK title to hit the service.
Warhammer Could Fill the Helldivers-Sized Void On Xbox
Warhammer 40K Boltgun brings the grim darkness of the 41st millennium to gamers in a thrilling first-person shooter experience. It’s a welcome addition to the Game Pass library for March, especially amid heightened interest for sci-fi shooters, driven by none other than Helldivers 2.
Launched only on PS5 and PC, Arrowhead’s unexpected runaway success, Helldivers 2, has a simple yet robust live service formula of fun maximum monetization minimum. This resonated brilliantly with gamers, and the co-op shooter skyrocketed in popularity, with over 8 million copies sold (estimated) and over 450,000 maximum concurrent players on Steam.
Helldivers 2 exceeded Arrowhead’s expectations by miles, with the enormous influx of players severely overwhelming servers at launch. The issues are fixed now, save for another lapse thanks to the mech addition.
With the game’s scorching success and sheer fun, Xbox players want in on the action as well, and set up a Change.org petition to bring the game to the platform that has crossed 100,000 signatures. The demand for Helldivers 2 on Xbox is so strong that even Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer believes it shouldn’t be locked to PS5.
While there’s absolutely no indication of Helldivers 2 making an appearance on Xbox, Warhammer 40K Boltgun stands out as a fun alternative in the meantime. If you’re a fan of intense action and the dark sci-fi setting of Warhammer 40K, Boltgun is definitely worth checking out. Keep the Helldivers hope alive, though. You never know what the future holds.
