Marketing for this game has been super lowkey. By lowkey, I mean not even present. We did get official teasers for the game here and there, but it seems Xbox isn’t intent on going all-in on the marketing for this game, and people are starting to take notice.

Hellblade 2’s Marketing Feels Like a Letdown from Xbox

Hellblade 2's release is imminent, but why isn't there much talk about it?

Gaming is a highly competitive market, and effective marketing can make or break a title’s success.

Unfortunately, it seems that Xbox may have missed the mark with their marketing strategy for Hellblade‘s sequel, leaving a lot to be desired. The upcoming title feels like it has too little hype and anticipation just weeks before its release, despite it being the opposite around the time it was just announced.

Despite being in development for over six years, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 has seen minimal promotional efforts from Xbox.

The sparse marketing campaign saw a short gameplay reveal two years ago, followed by an official trailer at the Game Awards three months ago. Since then, there’s been little to no buzz surrounding the game.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is set to release just a little over a month away on May 21, 2024, and the window for building hype is rapidly closing.

People Are Confused About the Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Marketing

Before IGN’s preview was released, just 24 hours ago, a post on the GamingLeaks subreddit came out stating that “Brand new gameplay from one of the most anticipated games of 2024” would be released the next day.

A ton of people guessed as to what game it would be, and the Xbox exclusive‘s name was nowhere to be mentioned.

Some comments across social media have pointed out how Xbox’s marketing strategy for HB2 has been lackluster at best, with a few people pointing out that the game’s marketing should start by now.

A Reddit user mocked the “one of the most anticipated games” descriptor, saying the game’s been in production for over six years and the hype for it is completely missing.

A few users echoed this sentiment, sharing that they didn’t feel like there was any hype around the game either.

Without a strong marketing push to build hype and anticipation, HB2 might end up struggling in sales when it is released.

That’s not to say the game will be a flop, however. There was a significant amount of support in the comments of the previews talking about the stellar visuals and gameplay. It’s undoubtedly a title to look out for, despite the marketing issue.
