In an over 10 minutes deep dive section at the Developer Direct event, MachineGames released a gameplay trailer and talked a lot about Indiana Jones and the Great Circle such as its decision to make the game in first-person perspective, how puzzles and the iconic whip are an important part of the game, tools and gameplay mechanics, Indy’s foil, and much more.

MachineGames talked about the villain in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle saying that it loves its villains and added that it may have found its “favorite one yet” in Emmerich Voss. Considering how much the developer has been praised for the antagonists in the Wolfenstein games, it will surely set high standards with Voss. Here’s how it described Emmerich Voss:

He is this intensely psychological man. He is obsessed with the human mind and manipulating it. He is highly intelligent and the perfect foil for Indy.

The developer further said that both Indy and Voss are brilliant and intelligent fueled by their passion and obsessions but are on totally different roads that will see them go head-to-head against each other. The trailer shows Voss tracking Indy and trying to his whereabouts. He is also the guy who creeps up on players and gets under their skin, trying to thwart them in any way possible.

He is also seen doing the same with Indy before trying to leave him for dead in the desert of Africa. Emmerich Voss is voiced by award-winning voice actor Marios Gavrilis. Gavrilis has voiced translated versions in multiple video games such as Death Stranding, Gotham Knights, and Far Cry.

Voss in the voice of Gavrilis sounds very captivating and will frustrate the players with his words in unimaginable ways. There have been several iconic villains in the franchise and it will be exciting to see how well Emmerich Voss stands out among them. As for other characters in the game, Gina Lombardi, an investigative reporter is the main character.
