Under the leadership of Jim Ryan since he took over as CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment more than half a decade ago, PlayStation has enjoyed tremendous success in the form of amazing first-party exclusive games that have kept gamers busy all these years. Ranging from the Marvel’s Spider-Man and God of War sequels to titles like Ghost of Tsushima, the PS has had an impressive run since Ryan became the head, so his departure is a bittersweet moment for players.
The former PS boss had been with the company for three decades and has seen the console evolve into what it is today from the beginning, and fans are bidding him farewell by wishing him all the best and dragging Xbox through the mud.
Jim Ryan Bids Farewell to PlayStation After Thirty Years
PlayStation has had an impactful presence at gaming’s most prestigious event of the year, The Game Awards, with some first-party games like The Last of Us Part II and the God of War reboot winning in the Game of the Year category in their respective years, so it makes sense for the show to honor Jim Ryan’s last day at Sony Interactive Entertainment on March 29.

The post led to fans pouring in with their own versions of goodbyes, with gamers showing their gratitude for bringing them incredible titles during his tenure through multiple replies saying “Thanks for everything.”
Another player noted how it’s the “End of an era” during which PlayStation has excelled spectacularly, leaving almost all competition behind when it comes to creating immersive gaming experiences.
PS Fans Take Shots at Microsoft and Spencer
Of course, there are those gamers who didn’t agree with the decisions Ryan made for PS, with one saying, “Good. The Japanese are better at creating and overseeing video games,” as Hiroki Totoki is set to become the Interim CEO of SIE on Monday, April 1.
According to a poll in the replies, 58.5% of 3,632 people didn’t like Ryan and didn’t seem to care about him leaving.
While wishing Ryan the best of luck in his future endeavors, a fan referred to him as “The man who forced Xbox to go 3rd party,” as Phil Spencer recently revealed that the console’s first-party exclusives will be ported to other platforms.
Comparing the levels of progress that PS and Xbox have managed to achieve in the last five years, the former’s “victory” can clearly be observed in terms of sales and high-quality exclusive video games, so it really is not a competition at this point.
