Xbox’s Rumored Third-Party Announcement Could Spell Disaster for the Failing Gaming Brand
This initiative by Xbox might be an attempt to rescue a struggling brand. So, the brand’s rumored third-party strategy means games like Starfield, Redfall, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and even the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle will now be available on all platforms.
Unfortunately, this initiative shows that the brand will now focus only on the game business rather than hardware. Who knows? Perhaps they can still manufacture consoles, but things may never be the same again.
According to sources, the most important reason behind this decision is that Xbox consoles are not in high demand, even if their prices are affordable. Besides, the thought that the Game Pass service is unsustainable seems to be one of the things that pushed them to make such a decision.
However, there is one thing: releasing exclusive games to other platforms, which may be the only thing Xbox has, could spell disaster for an already failing brand. Because first-party and exclusive games are quite rare in recent years, and Starfield, Redfall, etc. Folks have lost faith in Xbox games, regardless of the platform, as evidenced by the declining sales figures.
Most importantly, Microsoft might struggle to cover additional development costs in such a case, leading them to contemplate selling the Xbox brand.

Undoubtedly, it would be very cool for PlayStation 5 owners to be able to play Sea of Thieves and Starfield whenever they want. Well, the same is not possible for Xbox owners. Sony-exclusive games like God of War: Ragnarök and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will continue to remain dreams for them. This will cause them to lose faith in the brand even more.
