XDefiant, Ubisoft’s free-to-play title was released on May 21 for PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. The long-delayed FPS is available now and the players are complaining about a core issue regarding the progression. Several players have reported significant difficulties with the weapon progression in the game.
On X/Twitter, a user went viral, saying that they played for more than three hours and that their weapon only got to level 6. This is not the first player to complain about this. They even compared this issue to the same concern in Call of Duty Modern Warfare from 2019.
XDefiant Has a Problem With Weapon Progression
After many years without news, Ubisoft has finally launched XDefiant out of nowhere. The FPS has similar features to the Call of Duty franchise. The game has various factions to choose from, with different agents having abilities and equipment to select for the battle. Every character also has an ultimate skill. It includes numerous game modes that are part of the experience between 6v6 teams.
An X/Twitter user went viral for complaining about the lack of progression that the game has with the weapons. According to this user, they played for more than three hours, and their weapon only reached level 6.
Many other users discussed with the user that they are not skilled enough and that his weapon wasn’t leveling up correctly. The original user who posted this compared the title to Modern Warfare’s slow progression in 2019.
Not Even Modern Warfare 2019’s Progress Was So Slow
The discussion continued, and another user said that this is not a yearly game that will be launching a new entry next year, like Call of Duty, so it makes sense that weapons didn’t level up that quickly. Other users said that the battle pass makes no sense, especially if it is going to last only three months or less.
There is no way that players can complete this pass before it changes to a new season. Other players talked about how it is only pre-season content, so there is no real content to progress at the moment; only the weapons can be leveled up.
Ubisoft should probably balance a bit more with the progression system of the game, especially if the game has a real number of players. Ubisoft’s FPS is still trying to accommodate the genre and could probably achieve a good number of concurrent players.
The game, a team-based, fast-paced first-person shooter, rivals Call of Duty by offering a gameplay style similar to that of the popular Activision franchise. The idea behind the game is to introduce all of the popular factions from all Ubisoft games and make the player choose between their favorite factions.
