Xolo Maridueña’s Blue Beetle managed to maintain a stable weekend-to-weekend box office number. For most of the blockbusters, the deteriorating box office numbers are a matter of concern; where the main problem being the weekend-to-weekend drops. Star Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania was the first MCU film to drop 70 percent after the first week. Similarly, David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods faced a 69 percent drop. But unlike most, Blue Beetle holds a very secure position.

Blue Beetle’s Box Office Drop after First Week

Even though Blue Beetle didn’t have a remarkable entry (bringing in just $25 million), it managed to maintain a smooth weekend-to-weekend number. Although it was hoped that Angel Manuel Soto’s origin narrative of a young, charismatic hero would move the DC brand closer to a fresh beginning, it is clear that audiences aren’t interested in the new release. It’s starting to look as though one of the last entrants when compared to its budget.

Blue Beetle is the most disappointing investment of the DC Extended Universe

Compared to the other superhero movies, Blue Beetle is still at a better pace. However, it is not enough to reach the benchmark set by other DC movies. Last week, Blue Beetle debuted to a disappointing $25.5 million at the US box office, coming out right after a time when most superhero films that made it to the big screen were able to generate large amounts of revenue from ticket sales. The adventure of Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) hasn’t been able to draw audiences from around the world either, since it failed to make $100 million after two weekends of screening.

One of the final DC films Warner Bros. had planned for the current version of the brand was Blue Beetle. The first film set in the new universe will be Superman: Legacy, which will be directed by James Gunn and is presently scheduled to come out in the summer of 2025. Gunn has previously suggested that Jaime Reyes may feature in films associated with his vision for the brand. There are still a couple of weeks left to analyze the final box office performance of Blue Beetle but, for now, things aren’t looking great for the young hero.
