As seen for almost 30 years, death is not a recurring theme in One Piece. Eiichiro Oda, the creator of one of the best anime and manga series has openly acknowledged the fact that he does not like killing the major characters from his story and most likely would never do it in the rest of the One Piece series.

However, he still had to kill one character which was a depressing moment for the One Piece fans. The character was Luffy’s brother Ace and his death marked the beginning of the time skip and the Straw Hat Pirates training and gaining strength for the future adventures in the series. Other than that the series has not witnessed any major deaths.

However, recent events of One Piece have led fans to speculate that there might be one of the Straw Hat Pirate crew members that Oda might have to kill to move the story forward and also give the crew members another upgrade before the conclusion of the series.

Which Straw Hat Crew Member Might Die in One Piece?

The Straw Hat Pirates have been together for so many years and they have not only survived, but achieved major titles together as a crew. They have fought the Navy, other Pirates, members of the World Government, and even defeated an Emperor of the Sea. They have also become the youngest Yonko crew ever.

Each member of the Straw Hat Crew has a deep affection for the other members, especially their Captain, Monkey D. Luffy. They all are working together to help him achieve his dream of becoming the King of the Pirates and are willing to give their life for it. This makes their crew special and the center of the One Piece story.

While every character in the crew has a major role or a dream that they want to achieve in the series, there is one character who might need to die to fulfill his dream. This character is none other than Usopp, the Sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates and Eiichiro Oda might have already hinted at his death.

Eiichiro Oda Hints At Usopp’s Death in One Piece

According to a theory posted by @saiyan_prince77 on Instagram, Oda-san has already foreshadowed the death of Usopp, just like he did with Ace. According to the covers of One Piece manga chapter 520, Ace’s death was foreshadowed in a game of cards. Similarly, Usopp’s death is also foreshadowed in One Piece Jump Calendar 2006 with a game of cards.

Another hint that Oda dropped about Usopp’s death was when Luffy was fighting Sanji during the Whole Cake Island arc, Luffy stated that he wouldn’t be able to become King of the Pirates without Sanji. However, when he was fighting Usopp in the Water 7 arc he did not say anything even remotely close to that.

All of these instances in One Piece hint at the death of the Sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates. Also, Usopp’s dream is to become a brave warrior of the Sea. And to achieve that, he might have to die while doing something brave like saving his Captain from a threat. Thus, Usopp’s death is highly possible and although fans don’t want it, they might have to go through the pain.
