Keanu Reeves recalled a harrowing stunt with a wild animal in John Wick: Chapter 3

John Wick is an American neo-noir action thriller franchise created by Derek Kolstad which is based on the life of a retired hitman. He is forced to come out of retirement due to the cruelty of a crime boss’ son. He gathers his weapons and sets forth for revenge, sparing no one in his path. The films offer the best action scenes and thrilling stunts.

Keanu Reeves is winning the hearts of fans as a dangerous assassin who mercilessly killed the crimelords of the underworld. In the third film, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the actor is seen doing one of the most dangerous stunts in the film which involved horseback riding.

In a conversation with Stephen Colbert, Reeves described there is a particular kind of action required to become his character, John Wick. He shared that it must be immersive and over-the-top. In a scene, John Wick is seen escaping assassins on horseback. On being asked about the experience of fighting on a horse, Reeves answered, “It’s fun!”

However, when Colbert nudged him about the dangers of sitting on a real animal in such a high-intensity scene, Reeves admitted, “Yeah, you could die,”

He added that there are complicated safety precautions that are not visible to the audience.

Keanu Reeves learned trick ride for a scene with a horse in John Wick 3

The scene involving the horse was not only dangerous, but it also required lots of practice. To make the scene exciting and realistic, Keanu Reeves had to learn a new skill known as Trick riding. In simple terms, trick riding the horse means riding a horse fast and hanging off its side at high speed.

The intense training allowed Reeves to perform his stunts smoothly in the wild action scene. It also created a memorable death scene, in which the horse that John Wick was riding, eliminated one of the many threats with its swift kick to the neck.

Keanu Reeves’ fourth installment of the Assassin franchise, John Wick 4 was released earlier this year, grossing $432.2 million worldwide. The overall gross collection of the franchise is more than $1 billion.
