While it has been a while since she has starred in any film, Eva Mendes was the subject of a tabloid rumor back in 2007. The actress was reportedly rumored to be pregnant after being seen by paparazzi with a ‘bump’. However, the actress denied the claim back then and Evan promoted body positivity by speaking about how putting on a little bit of weight was not that big of a deal.

Actress Eva Mendes has two children with partner Ryan Gosling, who she met on the sets of the film The Place Beyond The Pines. The actress had her first daughter in 2014 and her second in 2016. Though she had her first child in 2014, she was once rumored to be pregnant back in 2007. The actress was reportedly clicked by tabloid photographers walking in LA with a ‘baby bump’, sparking rumors that she was with child. However, Eva Mendes later addressed the rumor when she appeared on Late Night With Conan O’Brien.

The real reason why she looked pregnant in the photos seemed to be hilarious. Mendes mentioned on the talk show that she had just eaten a satisfying pasta lunch at a restaurant and had just left everything hanging out when she exited the place when she was captured. She said,

“I was just walking out of the restaurant and I was just letting it all hang out because I love eating like a 400-pound Italian man…I was walking out and I was comfy…And they caught me. Those little roaches…They said I was pregnant…And they added that I was leaving a pre-natal yoga class. I don’t Evan go for regular yoga.”

Mendes mentioned that the rumor affected her relationships with her extended family and friends as many began to ask her about the ‘pregnancy’ and why they were not informed of it.

Eva Mendes has often been considered to be one of the most beautiful and desirable women in Hollywood. The actress was featured on the eleventh spot on Maxim’s Hot 100 list back in 2010. She shared the list with actresses and celebrities such as Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, and Rihanna.

Mendes, however, has been very vocal about not conforming to superficial beauty standards set by Hollywood. After the actress dismissed rumors of her being pregnant after she was seen with a ‘bump’ after having a heavy lunch, she spoke about gaining and losing weight for a role and how actresses tend to lose weight before a role. She said to Conan O’Brien,

“I just have a healthy attitude about it…I fluctuate between 5 and 10 pounds, you gain a little weight it’s not all bad. It goes to the fun areas as well, right? So, you have to embrace that.”

The actress seemed to be advocating for a better outlook on body positivity and not making actresses put stress on their bodies during a film.
