Playing the younger version of Imperator Furiosa in the Fury Road prequel film, Taylor-Joy proved herself to be a force to be reckoned with.
However, despite performing high-octane stunts and driving at breakneck speeds, Anya Taylor-Joy dropped an ironic anecdote while sitting beside co-star Chris Hemsworth for the EW cover story. Although Taylor-Joy did a convincing performance behind the wheel, the actress admitted to not owning a driver’s license. But fear not, Hemsworth has the perfect plan for her.
Anya Taylor-Joy Admitted to Never Obtaining a Driver’s License
Following her brief but crucial appearance in Dune: Part Two, Anya Taylor-Joy took on a new challenge in the upcoming Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Playing the titular character, the younger version of Imperator Furiosa, Taylor-Joy performed some of the most stunning action sequences with utmost precision, in the movie.
But surprisingly, while Anya Taylor-Joy performed some of the most terrifying stunts behind the wheel, the actress admitted that she still doesn’t own a driver’s license, while speaking with EW for its cover story. Seated beside her Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga co-star Chris Hemsworth, the actress revealed the ironic anecdote.
“I still don’t have my license. I haven’t been anywhere long enough to get a license. Yeah, it is pretty cool that the first thing I learned to do in a car is a juicy lift 180. I feel pretty secure in that, but I love cars. I love Formula 1. My dad was a power boat racer, so we’re just pretty petrol-y as a family.”
Despite her love for cars and performing the aforementioned Furiosa stunt with ease, Anya Taylor-Joy unfortunately doesn’t own a driver’s license. Although it never affected her in any way, the actress claimed that the stunt experience was “really crazy and slightly upsetting” given she didn’t have a license.
Chris Hemsworthʼs Hilarious Response to Anya Taylor-Joy’s Anecdote
While Anya Taylor-Joy candidly opened up about not owning a driver’s license, despite appearing in a car-stunt-heavy film, Chris Hemsworth offered the cheekiest responses throughout. Beginning with how the actress “unofficially” owns a license, given her fearless stunts in the movie, Hemsworth went on to poke fun.
Anya Taylor-Joy proceeded to discuss which car she would own, once she procured her license. Claiming to be a fan of the “stupid” hot cars like Ferrari, the actress mentioned she will probably choose a bright yellow colored car. To which Chris Hemsworth took the perfect opportunity to come up with a solution for Taylor-Joy’s lack of license.
“I know once I have my license, the stupid car that I’m going to get. I’ll probably break it. It’s a Ferrari Dino. Those are hot cars. It’s going to be bright yellow and I’m psyched.” Taylor-Joy shared.
“Your driving test should just be you handing them a DVD of Furiosa: ‘You tell me if I can f—ing drive,’” Hemsworth joked.
Directed by Mad Max franchise mastermind George Miller, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth is set to serve as an origin story for the titular character, initially played by Charlize Theron in Fury Road.
