Beau DeMayo has worked with various different studios for the multiple projects the writer has been part of. Guillermo Del Toro once went on stage to demand respect for animated projects. For a long time, anything shown visually through an animated medium would automatically be assumed to be targeted towards children. Many of the best and most well-thought projects go under the radar simply because of the medium they are used in.

Misconceptions fly around just as fast as rumors do, from cartoons to anime and animated movies in general, all of these were disregarded not because their stories lacked complexity but because of the medium. DeMayo takes exactly that into consideration, shedding light to another masterpiece: Avatar: The Legend of Korra.

Beau DeMayo Demands Recognition for The Legend of Korra

In an interview with ScreenRant, Beau DeMayo talked about Studio Mir, responsible for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and most famously, Avatar: The Legend of Korra. He focused on the fact that there are often scripts that are so perfectly crafted that they can grasp the audience’s attention without any effort.

“I can honestly say, as a writer, you want your script to be respected. Especially something like The Witcher, which is part of such a larger tapestry at Netflix. And they were just so generous and trusting, in terms of what I was excited about, in the script and for the film.”

It was the execution of that script that came into play afterward. Working with various writers, it becomes a task to learn how to navigate how each mind works without tampering with the story set in play. DeMayo was fully ready to trust Studio Mir because of their previous work on The Legend of Korra.

The way they took the script and perfectly visualized that vision is what brought a great deal of faith in the writer for The Witcher spin-off.

Beau DeMayo Put His Faith in Studio Mir

Beau DeMayo had to collaborate with Studio Mir for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and there was a lot of care put in the story. Many times the vision gets botched due to faulty execution. However, the same is not the case for this project. The movie instead got the love and care it deserved. Speaking with Screen Rant, he spoke up about how the writers could gel well with each other.

“They just came in and fleshed it so much. It really just felt like chilling in your living room playing Witcher with a bunch of buddies and being like, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if…?'”

There was a certain sense of ease that came with working alongside them. The way writers were all able to coexist, their ideas also managed to develop accordingly. It gave them room to expand and explore other possibilities that would otherwise have been lost.

Everyone started pitching their own ideas, wanting to see what worked and what didn’t. Had it not been for their previously established works, DeMayo would have a hard time working with them.
