Michelle Monaghan is not the first actress to have an onscreen romance while being married in real life. However, the actress was busy making out with Tom Cruise during her honeymoon, which her husband was very supportive of.
Monaghan’s marriage to Peter White, an Australian graphic artist, took place in 2005, right when the Mission: Impossible III production was about to be underway. Monaghan and White are allegedly big fans of Tom Cruise, which was not mitigated by the fact that Monaghan decided to skip out on her honeymoon to be on set with Tom Cruise.

Usually, when a production calls for an intimate scene, it is customary to get those out of the way to put all concerned artists and participants at ease. As production for Mission: Impossible III was underway right after the actor’s wedding, Monaghan was expected to be on set, shooting with Cruise an intimate scene. Monaghan was playing the character of Julia Meade, Ethan Hunt’s fiancee.
Peter White was aware of this, and according to Monoghan, was very supportive of the whole endeavor. Speaking to Collider, the actress said:
“I was so nervous, and my husband was like, “Don’t worry, you’re gonna follow his lead. You’re gonna have a great time. It’s going to be wonderful.” I come home at the end of the day, open up the hotel room, and he said, “How was it?” I was like, “Oh my god, it was amazing. He was so nice. It was great.” He goes, “How cool is it that you were making out with Tom Cruise on our honeymoon?” Because we’re just such fans.”
It seems that the actress and her husband were thrilled about Tom Cruise’s inclusion in their ‘honeymoon’, even if Monghan was working at the time.

Michelle Monaghan’s The Family Plan is like an alternate universe Mission: Impossible
While Ethan Hunt is still stuck saving the world, The Family Plan ends up asking the question: What would happen if Hunt retired? The answer is that he would be chased by his former enemies and would have to relocate as a result. The hilarious premise has been paired with the vision of director Simon Cellan Jones, known for his work in television, especially Netflix’s Jessica Jones.
The film, starring Mark Wahlberg and Monaghan in reading roles, is a humorous take on the action genre, echoing the beats of an action thriller like Mission Impossible, with all the added humor that comes from a family comedy. The film has already been hailed as a hit for its streaming service, Apple TV+, marking it the most-watched film ever of the service, as reported by Deadline. The film would have beaten the likes of Oppenheimer, Evil Dead Rise and The Creator.
