By now, it’s pretty well known that Kim Hyung-tae and his team put in a lot of work on this game. They had to go through a bunch of problems just to get this game made. Then came the criticisms regarding its protagonist, Eve, who apparently looks better than some people want video game protagonists to look nowadays. After all these hurdles, this message from Stellar Blade’s director really hits home.

A game can be good or bad, but developers still put a lot of work into it. They spend months to years making that product; it only makes sense for them to get attached to it. Stellar Blade, too, has been in development for almost five years; it makes complete sense if it’s a bit close to their hearts.

For those unaware, Stellar Blade was earlier known as Project Eve. The game was initially announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Later, developer Shift Up decided to change their stance and announce this game as Stellar Blade, a PlayStation 5 exclusive title.

It centers around Eve, and its story unfolds on a post-apocalyptic Earth. As she fights various creatures to rid the earth of these hostile forces, she meets a number of characters and loses a number of allies. The game promises a mix of narrative-driven exploration and fluid, detailed combat.

In his statement about Stellar Blade, Kim explained how the game is made for its fans. He also specified who should play this game. He then talks about how developers have put a lot of things they love into this work, urging gamers to enjoy it to the fullest.

“Stellar Blade was made for you. If you are a player who enjoys single-player console games, you will know how much the developers love the culture and how much they put their love and hearts into it. I hope you have a great time with its charming characters, captivating worlds and formidable foes. Just grab your controller and enjoy.”

This message makes it clear how much love and compassion they have put into their first game. It was also evident when they stood beside their game when everyone else was going around criticizing it.

This would be one of the few games in a very long time that are offering fans such an experience. A single-player game that features hack-and-slash combat mechanics and massive bosses. This is one of the reasons so many gamers are so hyped for it, it is rare for gamers to see such experiences nowadays.

While Kim is quite emotional right now about this game, a while ago he was having fun with his fans. He was asked by someone about the age of this game’s protagonist, Eve, and he playfully answered that if enough people bought it, he would give that answer in a sequel.

He is a very big advocate of featuring above-average characters in video games. He suggests players do not want to control characters that look like them or are average, and that’s why he designed Eve the way she is.
