Fantastic Four Reboot is Reportedly Undergoing a Rewrite Process
Industry insider Daniel Richtman has recently revealed that new writers have started working on the much-anticipated Fantastic Four reboot, and the movie’s script is undergoing a third rewrite. Announced in 2019, the film has constantly faced numerous setbacks.
While Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer were initially enlisted as writers in early 2022, Josh Friedman was later hired to rewrite the script around a year ago. And the recently reported rewrite marks the third time the studio has allegedly assigned yet another overhaul of the script.
However, he also shared that the script for the film is expected to be completed within the next few months. This development adds to a series of challenges the studio is expected to face amidst the firing of Jonathan Majors, who was cast as the next supervillain, Kang the Conqueror, in the MCU.
As the studio navigates these obstacles, the fate of the Fantastic Four reboot remains uncertain. Reports have also stated that fans can expect more such news in the near future, as Marvel Studios is expected to continue to follow this pattern for a while.

However, he also assured that there is nothing for fans to be concerned about, claiming that these rewrites are intended as comprehensive script revisions before the start of filming, aimed at preventing significant alterations during the production phase. However, the insider also claimed that it would eventually slow down the overall process.

He would reportedly be joined by Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach potentially as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing. As of now, Marvel has not released any official statements regarding the movie or its ongoing rewriting process.
Fantastic Four is set to release on May 2, 2025.
