Tom Holland has been in the movie business for years now. Starting very young, he rose through the ranks and made a name for himself through his sheer talent. When he first joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he was a mere 18-year-old actor, trying to make a name for himself. Although he had starred in a few projects, he was still fairly unknown. Now, things have drastically changed and he has become one of the most well-known actors of all time.

During an interview, the actor revealed the first time he dared to use his voice as an actor. The first time he decided to set a boundary with production and say ‘no’ to something he did not want to do.

Tom Holland Was Asked To Wear A Wig

During the promotion of his 2023 series, The Crowded Room, Tom Holland gave an interview with Esquire. Here, he talked about an experience on the Spider-Man: No Way Home, and how it was a great achievement for him. Before the filming of the Marvel movie, the actor had been working on the Uncharted adaptation.

Playing the role of Nathan Drake, he had to make sure that his hair was perfectly accurate to the character in the games.

This meant that he would have to maintain a haircut that had the top longer than the sides, which were shaved. All of his hair was slicked back and the actor loved the look. However, when he was going to work on the third Spider-Man film, he faced a conflict.

“My hair in Uncharted is much cooler,” he explained, “I have cool shaved sides and it’s slick at the back, and that’s not very Peter Parker. He’s a bit of a loser. So they put this wig on me that was just around the sides.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home started immediately where the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home left, which meant there could be no margins for continuity errors. With this in mind, the production approached the actor and told him that he would be required to wear a wig on the shaved half of his hair so the two scenes would fit with each other.

Tom Holland Stood His Ground

Tom Holland did not like the idea of wearing a wig for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Even more so when he was made to try it on. In the past, he had kept himself quiet when he did not like something on set due to the fear of using his ‘star power’. It would seem, however, that even the actor’s British manners have limits, as he decided to set a boundary he had never made before.

“For the first time in my life, I put my foot down as the leading actor and was like, ‘I’m not f*cking wearing that wig. You can just . . . I’m going to have shorter hair and you’re going to have to deal with it.’ ”

Holland told the production team that there was absolutely no way that he would be wearing a wig when playing Peter Parker. Addressing the continuity error that would come with such a demand, he stated that he did not care about it. He even told Marvel that they would have to deal with it themselves as he would not be changing his mind.

Indeed, Peter Parker’s hair in Spider-Man: No Way Home is shorter than in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
