Brad Pitt is an actor who has done movies in various different genres. It is not rare to see fans of two unrelated things unite from time to time. Whether it is wrestling or cinema, music, and action, or perhaps cars and movies; fans can often find themselves seeing the best of both worlds in one platform.
So to see fans of Pitt unite for a movie that has yet to reveal a decent chunk of information is already incredible enough. However, the actor believes that his Formula 1 movie will be able to surpass one of the biggest movies and the cinema-saver, Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick. The dedication that his movie has put a lot of faith in the actor to be able to outshine Cruise’s work.
Brad Pitt Threw Shade At Tom Cruise’s Top Gun Sequel?
Joseph Kosinski, who directed Top Gun: Maverick, a movie that received so much praise, also is teaming up with Brad Pitt in an untitled movie based on Formula 1. And the actor had a lot to praise about the director and how dedicated he was while filming the movie.
“I’ll tell you what’s amazing about it. You see the cameras mounted all over the car. You’ve never seen speed, you’ve never seen g-force like this. It’s really, really exciting. And it’s really humbling. I don’t know if you can call mine a hot lap, it’s kind of a warm lap. I’ve taken a few tours unintentionally through the grass, but it’s just been such a high.”
He shared his experience about how it was to drive on tracks similar to those professionals use. Pitt was admiring the focus Kosinski had, one which could easily be compared to that he had while he was filming with Tom Cruise on Top Gun: Maverick’s set. He even focused on how the movie put him through excruciating speed, something he quite enjoyed. Could this dedication have given him hope of the movie somehow surpass the success that Cruise’s film had?
Brad Pitt Gives Insight On His New Formula 1 Movie
Brad Pitt finally gave the fans a little information about what exactly the movie follows. There is little to nothing known about the film including the title which has not been revealed either. However, according to Pitt, the movie takes place around a racer who famously raced around the 1990s and got into a horrible crash.
“I would be a guy who raced in the ‘90s,” Pitt explained. “He has a horrible crash, kind of craps out and disappears, and then is racing in other disciplines. And then his friend, played by Javier Bardem, is a team owner. They’re a last place team, they’re 21 or 22 on the grid, they’ve never scored a point. And they have a young phenom played by Damson Idris, and he brings me in as kind of a Hail Mary. And hijinx ensue.”
The actor has quite a lot of faith in the movie and is amazed by how much everyone is dedicating themselves to their roles including him and Kosinski.
