Zack Snyder’s Justice League or more popularly known as Snyder Cut is all set to release next year. Following the critical and financial disaster of Joss Whedon’s Justice League (2017), the numerous fan petitions to release Snyder’s original version gained much traction. #ReleaseTheSnyderCut became a battle cry for hardcore fans of Zack Snyder, which was also adopted by Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Ray Fisher, and Jason Momoa.

Earlier in May, HBO Max finally confirmed that it would be financing the unreleased project. According to Zack Snyder, his Justice League is going to be around four hours long which will be released in a series format of one-hour each. Snyder Cut has received widespread support from fans, and especially Ray Fisher after he revealed Joss Whedon’s abusive behavior on set.

Previously, Justice League was promoted with the tag Unite The Seven. With Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman having been introduced earlier, the remaining members of the Justice League who were confirmed to make their appearance were Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash. However, the seventh member of the League was never really revealed in the movie.

Fortunately, Zack Snyder has revealed that the seventh member of the Justice League is Martian Manhunter, who interestingly made his debut in Man of Steel as General Swanwick, played by Harry Lennix. General Swanwick also appeared in a brief role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In his interview with The Nerd Queens, Zack Snyder revealed his sketch of Martian Manhunter on his phone. Previously, Snyder had revealed a storyboard featuring Martian Manhunter for a scene in his Justice League. Snyder didn’t give much away, calling it “a little tease” and adding that “it’s pretty low-res and it’s just a drawing.”

From the drawing, it’s pretty clear that Snyder is keeping Martian Manhunter quite similar to his source material. From the green cape to his distinct physiology, it’s pretty much comic book accurate.

In Zack Snyder’s version of Justice League, Martian Manhunter was officially going to reveal himself. According to the storyboard, Martian Manhunter shapeshifts into Martha Kent, and holds a conversation with Lois Lane. After the conversation, ‘Martha Kent’ moves out and briefly changes into her original form, followed by once again shapeshifting into General Swanwick.

Despite being in a limited role, the addition of Martian Manhunter to Justice League is exciting. As one of the most powerful members of the Justice League, Martian Manhunter/J’onn J’onzz deserves to be portrayed on the silver screen.

As reports of various re-shoots involving Ben Affleck’s Batman, Jared Leto’s Joker, and Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke have surfaced, we might finally have our first live-action adaptation of Martian Manhunter in the highly anticipated Justice League. Rest assured, the Snyder Cut already looks a lot different than the Frankenstein monster we witnessed three years ago.
