Ever since Zack Snyder was shown the door by Warner Bros., fans have been campaigning for his return, demanding the studio to restore the Snyderverse. Despite the filmmaker having moved on and working on his Rebel Moon franchise, he recently revealed that he might be willing to complete his unfinished DCEU franchise on one condition, which is if Netflix acquires the right for his characters.

While Snyder’s condition is almost impossible to fulfill, it raises the possibility of Dwayne Johnson’s return as Black Adam and becoming a part of the Snyderverse mythos.

It took Dwayne Johnson close to 15 years of hard work to bring Black Adam to the big screens (via Entertainment Weekly). Despite the movie underperforming and getting blasted by critics, the actor remains grateful for the opportunity and would love to have him back someday (via IndieWire). And now it seems he might get the chance to return to the realm of Superheroes after Zack Snyder‘s latest comments.

Snyder, while talking to Cultura Ocio (via ScreenRant), was asked if there was any way he would be willing to finish his unfulfilled Snyderverse, potentially on Netflix, and he replied,

“If Netflix had the rights to the characters from my DC universe, of course I would, absolutely.”

Although this seems a herculean task, if such a feat is accomplished, it would make it easier for Black Adam’s return since the DCEU creator himself had stated that the anti-hero could fit into his Snyderverse mythos (via Tyrone Magnus’ YouTube).

While loyal fans of both the actor and filmmaker have been campaigning for years about their respective returns to the world of DC, a Netflix revival of Snyderverse could truly be the best thing for fans. Not only would it allow for the completion of Snyder’s DCEU world with fan-favorite actors, but it would also allow the filmmaker to create his version of a dark and gritty storyline without the external interference of anyone else.

Furthermore, under the master filmmaker, Johnson could finally get a second chance as Black Adam and prove all his critics wrong.

However, Reviving Snyderversae Is Not As Easy As It Sounds

Just before the release of Black Adam, the movie was set to ‘usher a new era of DCU’ and change the ‘hierarchy of power’. However, soon enough it was rumored that Dwayne Johnson wanted a Superman vs Black Adam battle, potentially weaving Snyderverse and the new DCU into one (via Variety) while also making way for Zack Snyder to finish his plans for DC.

Now as these plans have the possibility to actually take place, it is, however, not easy to revive Snyderverse. Netflix would have to spend millions of dollars to acquire Snyder’s DC characters, a gambit that the studio might not be willing to take. Especially since WB has been facing financial issues, these characters would definitely be worth a hefty price.

Furthermore, Snyderverse will not be complete without the original actors, many of whom have already moved on and some like Henry Cavill are way too busy to shoot a superhero flick. Even if Netflix is successful in reviving Snyderverse, it will be years before movies are released, risking the audience interest being diminished or gone particularly since the new DC is on its way.

Black Adam, meanwhile can be streamed on Amazon Prime.
