Zoe Saldaña Wants to Make a Fourth Stark Trek Movie

Zoe Saldaña has expressed her interest that she would love to reprise her role in Star Trek 4, the latest reported sequel in the live-action Star Trek canon.

Zoë Saldaña starred in the first film of the rebooted Star Trek series in 2009, directed by J.J. Abrams, where she played the character of Nyota Uhura, a polyglot, translator, and communications expert in Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk crew. She went on to reprise her role in two more films and earned a lot of praise for her portrayal.

“I still have hope. I had a wonderful experience through and through and through the three times that I was a part of that team,” she said.

I know that they’re always trying to sort of aim to wrangle everybody together, but I also know that Paramount is working on a new sort of fresh take on Star Trek, which I think is such a wonderful franchise that should live for a very long time, whether or not us as the original remake cast can come back. I don’t know, but I certainly hope so.”

Zoe Saldana also said that though she is done with playing Gamora, she thinks it would be a great loss for Marvel if they don’t bring her back. She played Gamora in three Guardians of the Galaxy movies and other Marvel films, including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

The 45-year-old actress previously spoke to ComicBook.com and said that she hopes to see Paramount nodding yes for a fourth installment in the popular Star Trek reboot series.

I mean, I heard what you heard in the trades. I just heard they’re gearing up to do a new one with a younger, sort of, take on it… I don’t know if it’s from the before or the after, but that they really still hope to grab all of us veterans and bring us back for one last round. Listen, I know it’s a lot to wrangle a whole bunch of people with busy schedules. But working with J.J. Abrams, and for J.J. Abrams at Bad Robot, was always just a wonderful and beautiful experience for me. So, if I get to do that one last time, I would be so grateful.

In another interview with The View, the Marvel alum said that while she loved Earth, she had a soft corner for space.

Zoe Saldaña Was Clueless As To Everything About The Star Trek Franchise

Zoe Saldaña, who got much fame after her breakthrough role in 2009’s Star Trek, once had no idea about the franchise. But it was Steven Spielberg who introduced her to the world of Trekkies.

In an interview with TrekMovie, actress Zoe Saldaña confessed her cluelessness about the franchise.

I didn’t even know what the word ‘Trekkie’ meant. So, I didn’t know what conventions were. I knew of Star Trek, but not extensively. So part of doing my research to have the feel to be a Trekkie and to go to these conventions.”

Saldaña also shared that Spielberg visited the 2009’s Star Trek set and told everyone that he taught the actress how to do the Vulcan salute.

It was through the fans that I became very, very curious. What is it about this show and these characters and these stories that drew people to keep it alive after forty-some years after only a few seasons?

She eventually did an outstanding job in her role. Star Trek has an impressive 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie also grossed over $385 million against a production budget of $150 million.

Star Trek is available to stream via Paramount+ and Apple TV.
