Bethesda is one of the biggest studios that Microsoft has bought in the last few years, with very popular IPs like Doom, Fallout, and, of course, The Elder Scrolls. Events like the Summer Game Fest or even an Xbox presentation regularly announce this kind of massive game.
What will be the Xbox and Bethesda strategy for the future?
Microsoft made an excellent call going after Bethesda; this group of really talented studios could really make the difference in Xbox-exclusive titles. Xbox really needs some good-quality exclusive games to make more console sales.
Unfortunately, this is not an easy task; games like Gears of War, Forza, and Halo don’t get launched every day. This process makes Xbox in a very complicated position, not really making a really praised title in comparison with games like God of War or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Xbox is not in the best place right now; consoles are not selling at all in Europe, and some AAA studios are doubting launching future titles on Xbox consoles. This means that Microsoft really requires a win regarding exclusive titles, but the strategy of this company is not clear. Rumors suggest that Xbox plans to launch more exclusive IPs on other platforms. Xbox needs to make a clear strategy for the next few years.
