In-game NPCs can be dumb but are getting better throughout the years. However, some Call of Duty fans are living in the past as they come about to point out some faults in previous entries like Black Ops 2. The game was first released and became an instant hit, like the majority of the games in the series.
The successful series has five games in its fleet (six if one counts 2008’s World at War). The next installment in the popular military shooter is likely to add another, which is also said to bring back major protagonist Raul Menendez, and players are full of vim and vigor for it. However, nothing has been confirmed officially.
Those Fellow Soldiers Certainly Didn’t Die Heroic Deaths
Artificial intelligence in gaming is typically used to enhance the user experience. As video games are advancing into a new era of realism, players today have more realistic expectations from games. And not just concerning visual aspects, but with the mechanics and how they interact with non-playable characters too.
With that in mind, some players chose to pick the second installment in the Black Ops series, where they highlighted some glitches associated with game mechanics. The video shared on the social media platform Reddit showcases the opening sequence from the mission Pyrrhic Victory, where Mason is assisting Savimbi and then flies off to save Frank Woods.

The in-game mechanics in the series haven’t been the most favorite aspect among the fans. For that matter, the latest Black Ops entry, Cold War, is also part of this long-running issue. A user wrote while commenting on a Reddit post that, “They took out mechanics that were a leap ahead.”

Some players have also highlighted issues with sliding mechanics that were featured in Cold War.

In contrast to that, Modern Warfare has maintained a better reputation among fans, but the latest entry is struggling to keep the momentum going.
Call of Duty Characters Talking to the Players? Why Not
It’s not just the enemies, but the friendly NPCs who join players in the battles have become advanced. If users currently playing the latest Call of Duty games are to take a peek back at the early products, they can visibly see a difference. Apart from that, the movement has become more fluid, thanks to the new generation of engines.
Generative AI attained a new milestone in the gaming sector when NVIDIA showcased how players can interact with NPCs. We haven’t seen any such technology officially incorporated into video games, but needless to say, it can be revolutionary.
And certainly, it won’t give players a chance to call the NPCs dumb, as they may come up with a proper response to that too. An opportunity to converse with Frank Woods or Captain Price through the screen is something fans may get to try in future Call of Duty games.
