The recent update brought an alternative game mode for players who sought a faster style of gameplay, as well as the larger Verdansk map. On April 4th of this year, Rebirth Island was added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III as part of its Season 3 update.

Introduced back in 2020, Rebirth Island was meant to offer a faster, more compact, and more aggressive style of play for COD players. Compared to the sprawling landscapes of the main map, Rebirth Island is significantly smaller, ensuring frequent player encounters.

Despite its smaller size, the map offers a variety of distinct locations, each with its strategic considerations. When the map was first launched in December 2020, it became the primary map for Resurgence Mode due to its compact size and focus on close-quarters combat.

The Resurgence Mode added an exciting and fast-paced element to traditional COD gameplay. In comparison to the larger-scale battle royales, Resurgence offered players shorter matches, self-revive kits, and respawns instead of being forced to spectate until the end of a game.

The Latest Changes to The Map Aren’t Going as Expected

Loadouts were also a significant feature in Resurgence, allowing players to start with pre-set class load-outs and play the exact way they wanted. The latest iteration has mostly been met with enthusiasm and players are having a blast, already offering insights and strategies into toppling enemy combatants.

However, not all things are sunshine and rainbows as several users have taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure at the current state of the update. As a post from user DETONATED on X/Twitter shows, the destruction of a key area at the start of the game can make arrival rather difficult.

Especially for a game where traversing and strategizing within the environment could prove crucial to a player’s game plan or style of play. But it’s not just randomly destroyed as environments that are causing an uproar in the current update.

Many users are also complaining about issues related to performance. Although most of the issues have been relegated to Xbox players, there have also been reports have PC gamers experiencing issues as well. However, it should be noted, that COD players can be a finicky bunch.

Devs have already brought multiple bug fixes for the Season 3 update, and several more are planned. According to recent leaks, the next major update for Modern Warfare III is coming on May 1st. ‘Rebirth Resurgence Loaded’ is the newest iteration of Resurgence Mode.

The new mode is said to offer customizable load-outs and a new map called “Checkpoint,” a smaller game map carved out of the original Rebirth Island area. What do you think about the changes to Rebirth Island? Let us know in the comments below!
